OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a talented and organized individual to join its Investor Relations team as an associate focused on strategy and business development related to our private investment funds. These funds currently consist of closed-end funds managed by the firm’s Private Credit and Fundamental Equities investment teams, with the former overseeing vehicles focused on less liquid opportunities in credit and related markets, and the latter on managing vehicles pursuing investments in privately owned enterprises, particularly those in the post-seed or growth equity stages of their lifecycles. This individual will work in close collaboration with members of several of the firm’s discretionary investment teams (such as our Asset-Backed Strategies, Corporate Credit, Private Credit, and Fundamental Equities teams), as well as the COO Group, Corporate Development, Finance and Operations, Risk, and our tech teams. This role offers the opportunity to be part of an inclusive, collegial, and dynamic working environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
You’ll primarily be responsible for supporting strategy and business development activities and client service efforts for our private investment funds. You’ll develop and produce marketing materials and investor-focused communications, conduct prospect- and investor-focused research, and help evaluate and size private market business development opportunities. You’ll collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, support inter- and intra-group communication/education, prepare business updates and reports for senior management, and oversee special projects and initiatives to support the Private Markets Strategy and Development team’s operational infrastructure.
