Description
BlackRock’s FIG Strategy team is looking for a Vice President to join the team, based in New York, reporting to the Head of Strategy for FIG Americas. This person will be responsible for driving business strategy and strategic transactions, and have the opportunity to work closely with the FIG senior leadership team and gain exposure to other executives throughout BlackRock.
Responsibilities
The Vice President of Strategy for FIG will be responsible for:
- Developing and executing business strategy for the FIG group, the world’s largest 3rd party insurance asset management platform, synthesizing industry data, trends and observations with BlackRock’s own platform strengths to drive informed decision-making that will continue to propel the success of the FIG and BlackRock platforms, and ensure FIG and BlackRock remain front-footed in meeting the evolving needs of our clients
- Support and execute high-leverage cross-functional initiatives that require a holistic understanding of industry trends and BlackRock’s platform. The Vice President will have the opportunity to work with different members of the FIG team, different groups within BlackRock, on a global basis and across seniority levels.
- Source, evaluate and execute strategic relationships, partnerships and investments in the insurance space that enhance growth opportunities, secure significant assets under management and related revenues, and catalyze in-focus asset management capabilities
Development Value
- Experience in developing and driving critical business strategy and transactions for the world’s largest 3rd party insurance asset manager, situated within the world’s largest and leading asset manager
- Exposure to senior leaders in the FIG, executive, client, and investment functions within BlackRock, as well as to senior management and executives at insurance companies, investment banks, and advisors
- Potential development to broader responsibility and leadership roles within the FIG, Strategy and/or broader FIG business
- Significant latitude to develop areas of specialization within insurance asset management; product, region, strategy, client type, etc.
- Strong track record of people migrating from FIG into elevated roles within a business due to the strong strategic thinking skills developed
Experience & Capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree with strong record of academic achievement
- Minimum of 5 years professional work experience in financial services investment banking or consulting, or in the life insurance or reinsurance sector; deal transaction, corporate strategy, and corporate development experience will be viewed favorably
- Domain expertise in insurance and/or insurance asset management, including knowledge of insurance products, insurance investments, strategy, and regulatory and rating agency frameworks
- Track record of identifying opportunities, building strategies and driving change through creativity, relationship building and focused execution
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; ability to distill complex ideas into clear and concise concepts
- Strong quantitative skills, including familiarity with financial statements and financial modeling
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to build interpersonal relationships across teams and seniority levels
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $137,500 - $194,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
