About This Role
BlackRock is looking for a Director of Social Media to join the Global Corporate Communications team. The candidate will be responsible for establishing a social media strategy in support of BlackRock’s brand and reputation. The individual will drive a proactive and integrated social media strategy to tell our story and elevate our brand in line with the firm’s strategic business priorities. The individual will also focus on social monitoring, rapid response, and digital community engagement.
A successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and thrive in a fast-paced environment. They will be able to effectively lead multiple projects and manage a team of direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a proactive social media content strategy for BlackRock’s corporate brand
- Partner across Corporate Communications to develop and implement digitally integrated communications strategies
- Integrate social media as a channel into all major company-wide initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams
- Establish digital community engagement capabilities
- Build and manage a team responsible for social monitoring around key reputational issues, crisis management, and rapid response in a timely manner
- Act as a decision maker for rapid response with an understanding of what type of content or users warrant a reply
- Report on social media performance with actionable insights on an ongoing basis
- Partner with relevant technology and security teams internally to ensure social media channels are always secure and compliant
- Work closely with Legal & Compliance team to obtain content approvals and ensure social media practices adhere to regulatory requirements
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10+ years of experience developing and leading social media strategies at multinational public companies
- People management experience
- Proven track record managing both organic and paid social media across current and emerging platforms
- Flawless written and verbal communication skills; must be able to present complex concepts in a concise and understandable way
- Experience using social monitoring tools (e.g., Sprinklr, Brandwatch)
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strategic and creative thinking aptitude; desire to succeed in a demanding, innovative, entrepreneurial environment
- Good judgment and impeccable ethics

An important part of BlackRock’s Corporate Affairs function, the global Corporate Communications team leads internal and external communications efforts that advance our purpose of helping more and more people experience financial well-being. The team develops compelling communications programs that enhance our culture, drive growth, strengthen our reputation, and build our brand.
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $190,000 - $240,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
