Overview
17Capital’s Investor Relations and Fundraising team is looking to hire a Director to join their team in the United States to manage and direct the fundraising efforts in the Midwestern United States to drive the rapid growth of Limited Partner acquisition in this region for the firm. The individual will work closely with the team of 8 currently working across North America including teammates based in New York, California, Virginia, and Canada and other regional locations.
The geographic area of coverage for this role includes the entire Limited Partner allocator base in the following thirteen (13) states: Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.
The role will also involve the coordinated coverage of Field Consultants that are engaged with their allocator clients in the region with our dedicated Consultant Relations team.
We strongly prefer for this colleague to be based in the Midwestern territory given the scale of the coverage required across the entire Mississippi Valley corridor.
Role & Responsibilities
Develop and Execute Fundraising Strategy:
- Create a comprehensive fundraising strategy tailored to the Midwestern US market
- Identify potential investors and cultivate relationships to secure commitments
- Already have relationships and familiarity with key regional allocators to private credit and private alternatives
Build and Manage Investor Relationships:
- Act as the primary point of contact for prospective investors and partner with Client Services on covering existing Limited Partners
- Conduct meetings, calls, and presentations to pitch investment opportunities
- Maintain regular communication in conjunction with Client Services to update investors on fund performance and fund and firm developments as well as further investment opportunities
Positioning:
- Tailor firm offerings to meet the unique needs of prospective investors
- Be comfortable positioning drawdown fund investments, co-investments, SMAs, Fund Of Ones, and interval programs as well as insurance specific offerings
Attend Conferences and Networking Events:
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, seminars, and networking events in the Midwest and nationally
- Expand the firm’s visibility and network within the investor community
- Plan and hold forth regional roundtables that gather local allocators to discuss investment opportunities in private credit and the wider private alternatives investment universe
Monitor Market Trends and Competitors:
- Stay informed about market trends, investor sentiment, and competitive landscape in private credit and NAV Finance
- Use insights to help the firm and senior management adjust fundraising strategies and positioning
Achieve Fundraising Targets:
- Set fundraising targets and milestones in alignment with the firm’s growth objectives
- Track progress towards targets and adjust strategies as needed to meet goals
- Be a self-starter and a ‘go getter’ (Make Things Happen!)
Provide Market Intelligence and Feedback:
- Gather market intelligence and investor feedback to inform product development and strategy
- Share insights with senior management to refine fundraising and investor relations approaches
Collaborate Internally:
- Work closely with investment teams, senior management, and other departments to coordinate fundraising efforts
- Ensure alignment between investor expectations and the firm’s investment offerings
Skillset required
- Proficient in the English language – both written and verbal; proficiency in additional languages welcomed
- Extensive experience in Private Markets, particularly in Private Credit, highly preferred
- Deep understanding of private credit investments and market dynamics
- Proven track record in Front-Line Sales production role in the Midwestern US Market
- Demonstrated success in generating sales and fundraising within the region
- Exceptional relationship building and Influencing Skills and knowledge and familiarity with regional allocators
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships with decision makers and staff and key stakeholders (Board, Consultants, Legal, etc.)
- Collaborative team player
- Works effectively in dynamic, collaborative environments with cross-functional teams
- Strong financial and analytical Skills
- Proficient in financial analysis and able to evaluate investment opportunities for our prospective investors/ co-investors
