Formed in 1974, Harvard Management Company (“HMC”) manages Harvard University's endowment and related financial assets. Our singular mission is to help ensure Harvard University has the financial resources to maintain and expand its leadership in teaching, learning, and research for future generations. The endowment is managed by a highly experienced generalist investment team whose members each take ownership of the entire portfolio, regardless of asset class. HMC's operational structure brings a wide range of expertise to our portfolio management. These Support staff functions include legal, compliance, finance and accounting, human resources and administrative services as well as information technology to develop and implement the systems necessary to support our investment activities.
Summary
This individual will play a key role on the Human Resources team with core responsibilities focused on recruiting, performance management, employee relations, and training and development, with meaningful exposure to compensation and benefits. This role requires a hands-on human resources professional with the ability to think strategically while executing a diverse set of HR initiatives. This person should be adept at identifying and framing problems and building trusting relationships in addressing both current staffing issues and talent acquisition needs. This individual will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer and will be involved in the supervision and development of other HR team members.
Summary Of Responsibilities
- Work with investment team on analyst program across all aspects of the employee life cycle (hiring, training and performance management) and directly mentor analysts
- Partner with managers and employees across all functions on coaching, counseling and employee relations and/or outreach
- Lead recruiter for Support staff and investment analyst program, including partnering with managers on recruiting process and developing compensation offers
- Oversee annual evaluation process and performance management for Support staff
- Significant role in employee engagement and learning and development programs, including but not limited to DEI, mentoring, and coaching

- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 8-12 years of broad HR experience including recruiting, and exposure to at least one of the following functional areas: performance management, training and development or employee relations
- Strong interest or experience in talent acquisition and recruiting required
- Open to experience in professional services and biotech/tech; exposure to financial services, asset management or banking a plus
- Demonstrated project management capabilities and organizational skills
- Self-starter who can handle a diverse set of initiatives
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective and influential business partnerships
- Operates sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently
- Business acumen and analytical capabilities
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Demonstrated supervisory experience
Other Details
- The FLSA classification for this position is exempt
- HMC is on a hybrid work model. Employees are expected to be in the office from Tuesday to Thursday and remote on other days.
