BAIN CAPITAL INSURANCE OVERVIEW
Bain Capital Insurance (“BCI”), an independently managed affiliate of Bain Capital, is a leading global investor focused specifically on the insurance industry. Our strategy consists of three pillars to create and drive value for our clients: private equity investing, outsourced investment portfolio management and structured investment solutions. Our insurance private equity business combines experienced, senior team connectivity and the broader Bain Capital platform to identify attractive risk-adjusted return opportunities across the insurance industry with a focus on control or significant negative control. We anticipate investing across the insurance value chain and business cycle, tech-enabled start-ups to legacy mutual insurers. Our first dedicated private equity fund raised over $1 billion at its final close in Q1 2023. Our outsourced investment portfolio management and structured investment solutions businesses focus on working closely with insurance company clients to deliver portfolio value creation that leverages the full breadth of the Bain Capital platform.
TEAM OVERVIEW
The BCI investment team is comprised of 13 U.S. team members and 2 U.K. team members, who spend their time reviewing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, preparing investment materials, and monitoring existing portfolio investments. In addition, we have a small but growing Portfolio team that is focused on supporting the growth of BCI and partnering with our private equity portfolio companies to create business value. We are currently hiring an Associate or Senior Associate to support non-deal business development and project management initiatives in our Boston office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Non-deal business development and project management support across the team’s three business segments.
Create and regularly refresh a repository of insurance industry, Bain Capital Insurance Fund (BCIF), and BCI team slides for internal and external presentations.
Support business development efforts across BCIF, Bain Capital Asset Management (BCAM) and Structured Products (IDF), including:
Support BCAM with global business development, internal and external reporting, technology infrastructure setup and ongoing management.
Support IDF business with iCOLI and PPLI prospect and investor follow ups, handle administrative issues with our external admin partner, support business case development for internal administration.
Serve as a liaison to and support the IR team, including:
Prepare materials to support fundraising and ongoing internal and external stakeholder meetings.
Complete RFPs/RFIs, respond to DDQs, and complete required LP reporting materials.
Service investor information requests, during fundraising and on an ongoing basis.
Maintain various consultant and performance databases.
Assist with recurring reporting preparation, updating marketing collateral, and investor letter writing.
Lead special cross-BU projects within BCI, e.g., fund and portfolio reporting, annual offsite planning and preparation, leveraging best practices across the firm.
Perform fund, investor, and market-level analysis and provide research/analytical support for BCI special projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong academic credentials (BS/BA from highly regarded institution).
3-4 years of experience in insurance-related asset management, consulting, or financial services-related marketing.
Excellent organizational and project management skills, ability to handle large volume of transactional requests and strategic projects concurrently.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with senior personnel across the firm.
Strong analytical skills; comfort organizing and interpreting large amounts of data.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to take on any task, no matter how small.
Outstanding Excel and Word skills.
Detail-oriented, conscientious, highly organized, and energetic self-starter with ability to think creatively.
