Overview
Product Management & Governance is a function within the Product team, responsible for the lifecycle management of LGIMA’s funds and products. Its purpose is to effectively maintain the fund range throughout the lifecycle to the benefit of clients, while enabling the achievement of LGIMA’s overall commercial strategy, and to ensure LGIMA’s product activity is in line with regulatory standards and LGIMA’s Product Process.
With necessary support and oversight, the role holder will manage the lifecycle management and oversight of a range of funds (as vehicle owner support) to the benefit of clients as an operationally and commercially viable proposition, in support of LGIMA’s growth ambitions. They will ensure that the funds remain fit for purpose from a regulatory perspective and project manage any changes required to deliver on this objective.
Responsibilities
Product Management
- With oversight and support from senior management, manage the delivery and continued development of the Product Management process for regulated products.
- As vehicle owner support, ensure each product and fund range is fully managed following launch through to the end of its lifecycle, adhering at all times to the Product Process Manual and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) requirements.
- Ensure products remain regulatory compliant, fund documentation is maintained to the highest standards, and relevant board, committee and regulatory approvals are achieved.
- Seek to enhance the product range offering on an ongoing basis in line with changing business arrangements, customer expectations and regulations.
- Engage key stakeholders effectively to optimize proposition development.
Product Governance & Compliance
- Ensure ongoing use and compliance with Product policies and procedures.
- Ensure personal adherence to compliance, governance and risk policies and frameworks such that Product activities are carried out consistently with business ethics, values and stakeholder requirements at defined levels of risk.
- Ensure an ongoing awareness of regulatory-required product governance rules and how they apply to the activities being undertaken.
Product Reviews
- Adhere to the processes in place to regularly assess management and delivery of product risk, fund and thematic reviews.
- Use existing arrangements, whilst also identifying and implementing process improvements, to review on an ongoing basis the benefits realisation of regulated funds following their launch including continued meeting of customer needs.
- Identify opportunities for fund enhancements or where funds should be closed or merged and plan for this activity. Ensure these are completed in line with the Product Process Manual and with due regard to Product Lifecycle Management.
Product Technical Support
- Deliver focused product technical support on matters such as regulation, tax, customer channels, registrations, disclosures and operational items on both an on-going and project basis to manage existing products to meet the needs of customers, maintaining an awareness of any knowledge gaps and escalating to SMEs as required.
Operational Engagement
- Ensure all relevant operational areas kept informed of new product launches or amendments.
- Coordinate operational teams as part of scoping, delivery and implementation, and ensure effective engagement with key service providers supporting the product activity.
- Escalate resourcing challenges, lack of engagement or skills / knowledge gaps to the relevant Product head. Participate in operational forums.
Regulatory and Product Knowledge
- Acquire, maintain and share a focused knowledge of the products and product structures and the application of regulatory guidelines to product governance arrangements, keeping abreast of changes and developments and being able to discuss these in an informed manner.
Qualifications
Must have extensive knowledge and proven track record in:
- 5-10 years of financial services industry experience.
- Knowledge of financial services, specifically the asset management industry and technical knowledge of investment products is essential.
- Product management / governance / operations experience desired.
- Knowledge of a variety of asset classes, investment solutions/strategies.
- Financial industry qualification a plus.
