Position Summary
Guggenheim Investments is seeking an Agency Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS) Analyst. The MBS Analyst is responsible for maintaining market coverage, conducting security and portfolio-level analysis, and sourcing and reviewing investments. This position is collaborative and cross-functional, with the employee responsible for intermediating, aggregating, and disseminating MBS market information to credit sector teams, portfolio managers, and senior investment professionals. The employee will report to the Agency MBS Sector Lead. The employee will work in the firm’s Santa Monica, California office.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead and assist in the evaluation of specialized and complex investments utilizing all available sources of information including governing documents, published research, financial reports, news, rating agency reports, and market information
- Generate trade ideas and research summaries for a variety of Agency RMBS/CMOs and CMBS collateral types. Conduct total return, OAS, and scenario analysis using standard analytical tools.
- Present trade ideas to sector team and portfolio managers. Maintain and originate client presentation materials related to key market development and investment views.
- Maintenance of cashflows and financial models for specialized and complex investments across Agency pools, CMOs, and Agency CMBS. Oversee and QC cashflow / financial models for less-complex, on-the-run investments.
- Lead or initiate meetings with dealers for industry background and deal research.
- Direct and QC monthly/quarterly surveillance process. Research developments related to specialized and more complex investments.
- Ensure completeness of investment analysis and documentation in conformance with firm standards.
- Conduct reviews of prospective portfolio acquisitions.
- Conduct and oversee ad hoc analysis to support PM, management, client, and desk-directed inquiries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industry standard tools such as Bloomberg, BRS, Yieldbook, Intex
- Strong credit, finance, economic, business and technical skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task across analytical, administrative, and research activities in a detail oriented and timely manner
- Strong commitment to performance and accuracy of work product
- Team oriented individual with ability to work well with diverse groups
Basic Qualifications
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in research, analysis, trading, or structuring
- Advanced degree (MFE, MBA) or equivalent educational background is desirable.
- CFA or progress toward CFA required.
Salary Details
The annual base salary for this role is between $130,000 - $145,000. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
