About the job
The Product Development Associate will play a crucial role in researching, identifying and implementing new business decisions, plans and models. The Associate will also be responsible for organizing, coordinating and managing the product offerings across multiple constituents, including external distribution partners and service providers. In addition to this, the Associate will contribute to the product development decisions in collaboration with team members from sales, national accounts, strategy, legal, operations and research functions. The Associate will play an important role in determining future business ventures of the organization. The Associate will have direct access to many senior leaders at the firm, gaining development opportunities through day-to-day projects and collaborations. The role is based in the Philadelphia headquarters. The New York, NY and Darien, CT locations will also be considered.
The successful candidate is expected to:
Effectively manage and/or support different projects related to all aspects of product development. Specific activities including:
- Maintaining and updating an internal database of all product initiatives, status and follow-ups.
- Assisting the Product Committee in the review and evaluation of all new fund/vehicle launches and modifications to existing strategies.
- Assisting in the preparation and execution of presentation deliverables.
- Developing financial models.
- Participating in meetings with investment teams, developing views on strategies and fund wrappers.
Review and monitor:
- New fund launches.
- Fee structures.
- Industry trends and innovation.
- Competitor filings and news.
- International markets.
- Distribution strategies.
- Sales trends.
Research potential new products, including:
- Historical returns.
- Performance criteria.
- Fee benchmarking.
- Liquidity features.
- Scalability of the strategy.
- Competing offerings, both institutional and retail
Assist FS Investments’ Distribution and National Accounts teams in:
- Development of educational materials.
- Onboarding new product offerings with wirehouses, RIAs and independent broker-dealers.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of related financial services experience with a focus on investment management.
- Undergraduate degree required. CFA designation preferred.
- Investment knowledge of private equity, hedge funds and real estate highly preferred.
- Proven analytical and research skills.
- Strong financial modeling skills.
- High attention to detail with proven track record of developing high quality, error-free output.
- Desire to join a highly collaborative and team-oriented organization.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) .
- Familiarity with Investment Databases (eVestment, MorningStar, Preqin) and Bloomberg.
