We’re seeking a future team member for the role of
Alternatives and Partnership Distribution Specialist to join our Investments business. This role is located in London or New York – HYBRID.
The Alternatives and Partnership Distribution Specialist is a key member of a small entrepreneurial team delivering our extensive global distribution footprint to our alternative manager partners.
This is a client facing role – in partnership with senior distribution professionals across Investment Management and BNY’s wider alternatives team, the Specialist will develop & drive execution of sales strategy regionally for our third-party alternative manager partners on our global distribution platform across intermediary and institutional channels.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
Externally Facing
- Be the Alternative Specialist on the ground in region for our third-party alternative managers
- Build strong relationships with third party managers investment team members, and develop strong understanding of investment process and strategies to clearly present them to clients / prospects in both institutional and intermediary channels
- In conjunction with Marketing and sales, organise, manage and coordinate third party manager roadshows in the region to educate and catalyze clients and intermediary teams
- Help develop and optimize messaging, including marketing materials and investor Q&A responses, to ensure consistency and resonating within channels
Internally Facing
- Contribute to forming and executing the business plan for growing third party managers’ assets in region in both intermediary and institutional channels, working closely with regional channel heads
- Contribute to product strategy and recommendations based on market analysis of investor and channel demand, as well as insights on asset classes and investment strategies
- Create data-driven sales feedback loop to ensure successful investor targeting and accurately handicap opportunity set for each manager / strategy
- Own and coordinate internal training sessions between the third-party managers and our Distribution sales team
- Provide regular updates to senior management and third-party managers regarding regional trends, client activity and prospective areas of growth as well as challenges
- Support local BNY Investments teams to ensure strong servicing relationships with clients for third party managers at a level appropriate to AUM and future potential

In terms of subject matter expertise, the Specialist will ideally have:
- 7-10 years of relevant alternative asset management experience
- Strong understanding across alternatives ecosystem across a broad range of asset classes/strategies, product wrappers/structures, and investor channels and tiers
- Experience presenting alternative investment strategies to sophisticated institutional and intermediary clients
- Strong understanding of the commercial dynamics of the intermediary and institutional channels in your region
- Bachelors’ degree and/or MBA; Related certifications preferred: CAIA, CFA

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $108,700 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
