Summary: The Director of Portfolio Management is responsible for developing investment policy recommendations using quantitative and qualitative research and analysis to develop asset allocation strategies for Calamos Wealth Management (CWM) clients. The Director of Portfolio Management is responsible for leading manager due diligence with respect to both public and private investments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Works with the CWM Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and the Investment Committee to develop and manage asset allocation models and themes including capital market assumptions and issues of overall portfolio construction.
- Creates a framework and process for developing and recommending investment portfolios using efficient frontier tools and methodology (i.e., analyzing overall investment return of various scenarios, interplay of various asset classes or securities, and comparative return of different markets).
- Contributes to policy recommendations for expression and implementation in client portfolios; prepares white papers and other commentary to explain these recommendations.
- Represents investment team views and speaks to investment platform in client meetings.
- Leads and refines the due diligence process for investment managers and investment vehicles, covering both new opportunities and ongoing monitoring of existing capabilities.
- Conducts thorough quantitative and qualitative analyses of investment managers, including performance attribution, risk assessment, and operational due diligence.
- Leads operational projects related the investment practice including account structure and trading/implementation considerations.
- Forms a partnership and strong working relationship with the broader firm’s investment team as well as the advisors within CWM.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong academic credentials at the undergraduate and graduate levels. M.B.A. or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, economics). CFA preferred.
- At least 10 years of relevant investment experience in the wealth management and asset management space, with some experience in leadership.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in quantitative analysis and financial modeling
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly articulate complex investment concepts.
- Proven track record in evaluating both traditional and alternative investment strategies.
- Deep understanding of various investment vehicles, including mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts, and private investments.
- Experience with due diligence software and databases (e.g., Morningstar, eVestment, PitchBook) is highly desirable.
