Summary: Calamos Investments is looking to add a VP, Director of Investment Operations, to its growing Operations team. The right candidate for this role will have a minimum of 10 years’ direct experience in the asset management industry, overseeing teams responsible for core, day-to-day investment support activities. Importantly, this individual should have demonstrated success in leading and actively participating in key strategic business initiatives. The candidate must have deep knowledge and experience in multi-asset class investing, the use of derivatives, alternative investing, and private markets. The best candidates will have product experience with all types of separately managed accounts (SMAs), various forms of 40’ Act funds (ETFs, Open, Closed, and Interval), as well as private fund structures (i.e., LPs and Trusts). This position reports to the SVP, Head of Investment Operations, IT, and Co-Head of Risk Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures the Operations team meets all strategic and performance objectives as stated by executive management.
- Manages a staff of Operations professionals; maintains responsibility for hiring, training, conducting performance reviews, and providing leadership to the group. Ensures that procedures are documented, and cross-training programs are in place to provide consistent coverage.
- Develops and implements operational policies and procedures that align with the strategic initiatives of the company, clients’ requirements, and the regulatory and compliance framework we operate in.
- Effectively maintains relationships with external service providers, including custodians, administrators, and auditors.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives and technology enhancements to increase operational efficiency.
- Resolves operational issues promptly and accurately, including the development and evaluation of internal controls for the team.
- Collaborates with senior management to support business growth and operational scalability.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in the asset management industry, overseeing teams responsible for core, day-to-day investment support activities.
- Strong understanding of multi-asset class investing, the use of derivatives, alternative investments, and private markets.
- In-depth experience with Managed Accounts, Corporate Actions, Securities Lending, Collateral Management, Proxy Voting, Class Actions, Trading & Trade Settlement, Global Markets & Foreign Exchange, GIPS and Investment Performance, Investment Compliance, Risk Management, Vendor Management, Project Leadership, and Product Ownership.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in investment operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) highly desirable. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) licensing is a plus.
