Overview
Heights Capital Management, Inc. (HCM), a global buy-side investment team affiliated with Susquehanna International Group, LLP (SIG), is seeking a lawyer to join its dynamic team based at SIG’s headquarters in suburban Philadelphia.
In this role, you will work closely with and be guided by the group’s General Counsel who has over 25 years’ tenure at SIG, the Assistant General Counsel, and the entire investment team. Additionally, you will collaborate with SIG’s separate legal and compliance departments in the U.S. and abroad.
In This Role, You Will
- Support transactional work in the areas of public capital markets and venture capital, including investments in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
- Review transaction documents and negotiate new transactions.
- Manage incoming requests from counterparts in other domestic and foreign offices for headquarters or authorized signatory approvals.
- Manage outside counsel.
- Provide regulatory advice on active transactions within our investment portfolio.
- Advise on regulatory matters in all jurisdictions, including issues arising from principles of anti-money laundering “AML”, anti-corruption, and know-your-customer “KYC”.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of intellectually stimulating work.
- Have opportunities to travel to Asia and Europe (approximately 2-4 times per year).
What We're Looking For
- 6-10 years of post-law school or other relevant experience.
- Background in public capital markets and U.S. securities laws is helpful and will compress the expected learning curve.
- Ability and willingness to travel to HCM’s offices in Asia and Europe.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build relationships with global team members, as well as external counterparties, their counsel, and financial intermediaries.
- The ideal candidate will be open-minded, pragmatic, and flexible, with a strong desire to learn and grow in the role (side-by-side with growth of the global team).
- Experience working or living in Asia, including Mandarin proficiency or other language skills, is a plus.
- Visa sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position now or in the future.
