Purpose
As a valuable team member in the Internal Control group, employee will contribute to the success of the SBUS control framework by working with the U.S. Businesses in completing Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and in driving risk assessment of new initiatives. The RCSA program is rapidly growing and requiring a motivated self-starter with strong judgment and analytical skills to not only focus on governing documentation, but also the continued execution and oversight of the US RCSA program. Additionally, as the US businesses continue to grow, it is pivotal to link current risk and control levels with potential new initiatives. This hybrid role, assessing both current risk from existing activities and emerging risk from new initiatives, will subsequently require the ability to connect key processes and operational risk frameworks, including but not limited to, new initiatives, business process mapping, operational resilience, etc., across all SBUS businesses and control/support functions (CSF).
What You’ll Do

Strong non-financial risk, control, and regulatory experience in Capital Markets businesses able to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders aligned to expert level in business/trading, operations, and risk conversations.

Collaborate with stakeholders across the businesses and the three lines of defense, including First Line (FLSS), Second Line (Operational Risk Management), and Internal Audit, to confirm comprehensive and consistent practices are followed to allow for a successful oversight program that proactively manages and assesses operational risk.

Review, update, and maintain all related policies and procedures.

Regularly create and compile requests from regulators and Internal Audit to facilitate examinations.

Contribute to the evolution of the operational risk framework by driving consistency in data point gathering, including Operational Risk Events, Key Risk Indicators, etc., providing subsequent guidance for remediation if deficiencies identified.

Serve as an effective risk manager to assist senior leadership in evaluating key operational risks across their business.

Work to identify efficiencies in the US risk assessment process from initial NIA screener, to post-approval implementation, and ongoing monitoring with RCSA.

Design, develop, implement, and execute the RCSA framework, plan, and overall evaluation of operational risk across all U.S. businesses (Equities, Prime Services, GBP, FICC, and CIB)

Serve as the first line risk manager for control and support functions to design, develop, implement, and execute the RCSA framework, plan, and overall evaluation of operational risk.

Train the businesses and CSF stakeholders on the identification, ownership, and responsibilities around operational risk and mitigation practices.

Contribute to the annual assessment and design of the SBUS RCSA universe.

Evaluate enterprise-wide assessments in TPRM, BSA/AML, CRCA, Risk ID, operational resiliency, to tie critical data points to the operational risk framework.

Own individual portfolio of work and operate independently to aggregate, analyze, and report on operational risk to senior leaders.

Manage and perform Quality Assurance review of the Key Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators to be monitored and reported.

Centrally manage and track all the issues and remediation efforts for all the issues attributed to the US based Management team across all US entities and business lines. Liaise with the specific issue owners for periodic updates and manage the closure process.

Track operational events (gains, losses, near misses) and conducts analyses of root causes and determines corrective actions, in conjunction with the relevant Internal Control FLSS team.

Engage in all aspects of the US NIA process, including:

Work with the business to assess screeners and new initiatives.

Organize and lead working group meetings for all in-scope initiatives.

Prepare NIA materials for, and present at, numerous management committees.

Prepare meeting minutes.

Ensure the completion of outstanding post-implementation reviews for previously approved NIAs.

Evaluate new initiatives for previously identified risk theme.

Serve as point of contact and work independently with stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience in financial services industry, particularly in risk management and regulatory compliance, operations, or audit.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong time management and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Working knowledge of business process maps and/or Visio preferred.
- Ability to work independently and with senior management.
- Use of and/or interest in business intelligence and/or automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, VBA, etc.) preferred.
