Position Summary
General Atlantic is looking to hire an associate, Data Operations (DBA) as a key member of the Data Strategy team. This position will report directly to the VP, Data Strategy. The Data Operations Associate will work primarily as a DBA on the Investran accounting platform, and as the operations lead supporting our key data platforms and systems.
As a member of data team, this person will work with our PMO, Infrastructure & Security, and App Dev teams to assist in the support and operation of custom solutions that streamline business processes. He or she will work with the team in an agile environment to drive the development of complex projects from design to development and test. The ideal candidate must have a solid background in supporting data applications with a strong intellectual curiosity and desire to learn the latest technologies.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for administration, monitoring, performance tuning and maintaining all our Database environments both on-prem and Azure SQL
- Monitor all scheduled jobs for data applications and works with development teams to resolve issues
- Monitor database backups and restores for all database environments from DEV to PROD
- Document and maintain an Administration manual and runbooks
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance data operations efficiency
- Support data-related projects, including data migration, integration, and system upgrades
- Manage permissions for database servers, application databases, and data & analytics applications
- Manage passwords for system administration in a password manager
- Provide on-boarding and off-boarding support for Financial Accounting, Tax, and Data platforms such as Investran, Databricks, Alteryx and Visualization tools (PowerBI / Tableau)
- Assist in change control, version control, and deployments for all data and analytics applications
- Provide Level 2 support for all data and analytics applications
- Provide automation of tasks and alerting through PowerShell or other scripting languages available
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, management information systems, or equivalent working experience in information technology
- 2+ years of Financial Services experience
- Proficient in SQL Server Administration with at least 5 years experience as a DBA, with extensive experience working with the Microsoft stack on a cloud environment
- Knowledge of Cloud Data Platforms such as Databricks and supporting ETL operations
- Familiarity with BI / Reporting tools such as PowerBI, Tableau and SSRS
- Contribute towards all reviews of SQL and NOSQL scripts, tables, Views, stored procedures, extended functions in python etc. on the data platform
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to be proactive, solve problems, think ahead, and multi-task on a daily basis
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
- Ability to identify areas for improvement and present and implement viable solutions
- Strong comfort and experience liaising with internal and external contacts
- Investran experience a plus
- Familiarity with Alteryx a plus
- Azure DevOps and Terraform a plus
