CIBC’s Corporate Banking team provides coverage, advisory and solutions to a growing client base of international corporations, financial institutions and public sector entities across the US and Canada. The team is responsible for client relationship management by supporting client needs with a range of capital markets and lending capabilities while working alongside advisory and product partners.
US Consumer, Industrial and Technology, Media & Telecom (“CIT”) is seeking an Analyst to join its growing team in New York to support the Bank’s continued expansion in the US and the CIT verticals. The team represents a core growth avenue for CIBC, having added multiple senior hires over the past two years as the firm looks to leverage core competencies and build a long-term US client base in each of the verticals.
Job Summary:
US CIT Analysts are directly involved in the design, origination, structuring and execution of global products and services for existing and prospective clients across the various verticals. The CIT Analyst is expected to work very closely with other members of the coverage team and partners in a collaborative environment to provide value-add insights for clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital solutions, and lending products. An Analyst will also provide corporate credit analysis and manage the credit relationship for clients in the portfolio by regularly assessing the company, industry, and other relevant trends.
Analysts are assigned to a variety of projects and are given a broad range of responsibilities, some of which include:
Draft and prepare pitch books with detailed industry materials and comprehensive corporate finance analyses
Perform financial modeling, valuation, comparable and relative value analyses
Facilitate collaborative idea generation and solution development for clients
Assist in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships
Ability to effectively aggregate and synthesize data from a variety of platforms
Liaise with internal partners to support existing and new client relationships
Support the ongoing monitoring of credit relationships by conducting credit analysis and preparing credit reviews
Present credit requests to senior management as part of business evaluations
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of relevant work experience; exposure to S&P Capital IQ, FactSet and / or Bloomberg is a plus
Exceptional communication skills
Strong analytical capabilities with experience performing financial analyses in Excel
Fundamental understanding of key accounting and credit concepts
Ability to think commercially about the needs of the client
Team-oriented and proven ability to work with different stakeholders to solve problems
Proficient with the Microsoft suite of products (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneDrive)
We offer a competitive total rewards package, with this role having an expected salary range for the Analyst II - Analyst III position of $125,000 - $135,000 for the New York market based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
