Hartford Funds is seeking a dynamic individual to lead our Risk Program. In this role, you will leverage best-practice risk frameworks, spearhead strategic initiatives, and advise Senior Management on executing our strategic vision through intelligent risk decisions.
Responsibilities
- Drive the Risk Program through design, implementation, and execution of risk programs across the company, including Top Risks, Resiliency/Contingency Risk, and Third-party Risk
- Play a key role in identifying, quantifying, and mitigating risks by leveraging data, analytics, and industry best practices to assess and manage risks that could impact our strategic goals
- Provide independent and objective challenges on various firm-wide initiatives related to risk
- Collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders to understand upside/downside risks and counsel them to make risk-informed decisions
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership and the board on the organization's risk posture
- Partner with our parent company, The Hartford, to leverage their risk frameworks and resources, serving as a primary liaison
- Chair or provide key inputs into the firm’s Business Risk Committee
- Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to identify, assess, set risk appetite, and make decisions on the firm’s Top Risks
- Provide training to Hartford Funds staff on risk management strategies, practices, and their attendant responsibilities
- Stay abreast of industry changes and developments that could impact the company’s risk profile
Qualifications
- 10+ years of investment management experience
- 5+ years of experience in Enterprise, Operational, Regulatory, or Strategic Risk
- Strong applied knowledge of risk management frameworks, principles, and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and be able to develop and present successful risk strategies
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans that align with organizational goals and drive business growth
- In-depth understanding of the investment management industry, including current trends, challenges, and opportunities, with a focus on integrating a risk lens into decision-making
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex risk topics in simple business terms
- Self-managed, self-motivated, and accustomed to operating in a demanding, changing environment
