Purpose of the Role
As an Associate Business Manager on the Numeric COO team, you will be working hand-in-hand with our COO and team to support the various functions of the business unit. This team helps to organize the Investment engine objectives and collaborate with all stakeholders in Numeric and the broader Man organization. The daily tasks will vary but largely involve project management, coordinating meetings and materials, organizing current business/strategic initiatives, and ensuring the general needs of the business are being met. Having an understanding of investment management and how an investment management organization operates would greatly set the stage for success in this role.
The role and responsibilities will include:
- Project management – leading projects of varying size, difficulty and expertise. Projects will span departments and largely support technology and investment related initiatives but will certainly overlap with the broader central teams
- Process management – as part of the COO team it is important to take note and identify areas where business process improvements can be made and have the ability to suggest and coordinate appropriately, building an understanding of operational risk and supporting needs within that area
- Data entry and organization – including but not limited to terms and agreement support with legal, operational risk tracking, and project tracking
- Meeting preparation, coordination, support and follow ups – along with leading projects there will be additional meetings and committees requiring support and coordination to help the ongoing initiatives
- Ad-hoc requests that come across the COO team function – in a fast changing environment priorities and objectives for the business will evolve, must have willingness to jump in and embrace these challenges
Project Management & Communication
- Proven project management skills
- Experience with process improvement
- Able to set timelines and requirements, delegate tasks and stay on top of deliverables
- Excellent communication & people skills
- Ability to identify needs of teams and communicate to management
- Quickly gain understanding of organizational structure and build relationships with key stakeholders
General Capabilities
- Self-starter and strong ability to self-prioritize and multi-task
- Capability to produce a variety of raw materials – Power Point, Excel, Visio
- Manage multiple priorities and projects at a time
- Can support functions that may not be clearly defined and can take initiative
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Numeric and the broader Man organization
- Strong communication across a wide variety of teams and broader organization
- Bonus – strong technical skills; understanding of development life cycles; investment product structuring
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Management or other related fields
- Proven experience in project management or a similar expertise
- Outstanding leadership abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrable analytical thinking & business insight
- Advanced time management and analytical skills
