To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com As a Process and Controls Senior Manager at CIBC, you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and reporting process, risk and control data to help the bank make decisions about where to focus risk management efforts. You will work closely with first and second line of defense business partner departments to provide insights and recommendations that drive sound risk management and program maturity, improve stakeholder awareness, ensure program compliance and satisfy regulatory expectations. Key Responsibilities: Data Collection and Management: Analyze operational risk-related data from internal and external sources. Assess and develop governance for data in enterprise risk and control system and related applications, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing rigorous validation processes. Data Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, patterns, and outliers. Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics. Conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies and propose corrective actions. Reporting and Visualization: Prepare detailed reports for management, summarizing insights derived from data analysis. Create dashboards and data visualization tools to present data in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders. Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on the analysis to support business objectives. Provide support to the Head of Operational Risk reporting. Coordinate with first line of defense reporting teams to ensure consistency of approach. Risk Management: Analyze risk program data to identify gaps, themes and trends that require action. Collaborate with the risk program team to develop and refine risk assessment tools. Compliance and Regulatory Support: Ensure all data collection and analysis processes comply with regulatory expectations. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to support data-driven decision-making. Partner with IT and/or analytics teams to develop and implement data analytics tools and applications. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data analytics. Recommend and implement improvements to data collection and analysis processes. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field with minimum 10 years’ experience in the field. A Master’s degree is a plus. Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in the banking or financial services sector. Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Excel and Power BI. Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to present findings to non-technical stakeholders. Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards is preferred.
