The Health Data Integrity Analyst or Associate is responsible for performing a mix of data integrity, governance, and analytic work. The incumbent will analyze data health claims data to ensure that internal products and external reports are accurate, test the ingestion of new data sources, investigate and help develop solutions to data integrity issues, map new data sources, and maintain documentation including a data dictionary for analysts. This position will proactively work with external vendors, TRS IT, analysts, actuaries and agency staff.
This a primarily remote position that will occasionally require the selected applicant to report to the TRS offices, located in Austin, TX, based on business needs. All applicants must reside in the state of Texas upon employment and continue to reside in Texas throughout employment with TRS.
Position posted at two levels (Health Data Integrity Analyst Associate and Health Data Integrity Analyst). Selected applicant will be offered the position level that most closely matches their education and experience.
Starting Salary information
Health Data Integrity Analyst Associate: $62,113 - $77,640 annually
Health Data Integrity Analyst: $73,790 – $92,237 annually
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Data Integrity and Governance
• Analyzes detailed enrollment, claim, utilization and other health care related data to identify and resolve data quality issues. Conducts analysis to investigate anomalies in data.
• Validates new file extracts and ensures that business requirements have been met and reports are delivered to appropriate external entities.
• Provides support to manage and facilitate data governance meetings and working sessions.
• Documents requirements for data quality, verification, and test approaches and processes, including automated validation and verification steps of ETL processing needed.
• Communicates with vendors to investigate and resolve questions related to data integrity and manage complex data related projects.
• Maintains data dictionary and documentation for data warehouse users that captures data mapping, transformation rules and business definitions.
• Assists with evaluating the Health Division's business needs related to reporting tools and data sources and assessing vendors proposals for services.
•Perform root-cause analysis to identify data gaps and recommend solutions.
Data Analysis
• Develops queries to extract data to support decision-making.
• Researches, recommends, and implements methodologies for reporting health care data and statistics including key performance indicators for program activities.
• Identifies, collects, and analyzes data needed to develop reports, briefings, and presentations.
• Communicate and present data-driven insights to cross functional teams and leadership.
Complex data modelling and dashboard development
• Develop visualizations and analysis in PowerBI dashboards using business model and DAX measures to identify key trends and facilitate executive insight into health plans.
• Create measures using DAX code in tabular model that integrate highly complex health care data.
• Performs related work as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Required Education
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, business, health care administration, economics or a closely related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent and additional full-time experience in analyzing and visualizing health care claims data or financial data, administration of a health insurance plan or similarly related experience may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.
Required Experience
• One (1) year of full-time directly related, progressively responsible experience in analyzing health care claims data or financial data, administration of a health insurance plan or similarly related experience.
• Three (3) years of full-time directly related, progressively responsible experience in analyzing health care claims data or financial data, administration of a health insurance plan or similarly related experience. (Health Data Integrity Analyst)
• A master's degree or doctoral degree in a directly related field may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with healthcare claims data using advanced SQL
• Experience developing automated data quality testing frameworks and outlier analysis.
• Experience working with data engineers and data analysts to develop solutions and test data in a data warehouse
• Working with HIPAA data, following regulations and best practices surrounding the use and sharing of ePHI and PII
• Experience communicating data to decision makers to facilitate business and/or policy decisions.
Knowledge of
• Basic concepts related to data warehouses and writing queries using SQL
• Concepts related to Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) workflows
• Writing SQL queries to monitor and investigate data quality issues
Skill in
• Completing detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
• Managing projects, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing work assignments to manage work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Communicating detailed and complex information to a variety of business users with accurate, concise, and actionable language.
• Utilizing a personal computer and various business software programs including Microsoft Word,
• Excel, and Outlook; including using spreadsheets for data analysis and presentation.

• Think critically, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend effective solutions with a high level of attention to detail.
