Job Overview
Senior Associate, Funds Tax is an individual contributor role in the Funds Group that will work closely with other tax team members to help manage the tax function for the Arrowstreet sponsored funds. The Senior Associate will handle multiple competing priorities and complex initiatives within a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. This role involves significant interaction with both internal stakeholders and third-party service providers to the Arrowstreet sponsored funds. The scope of responsibilities for this role presents an excellent opportunity for the individual to gain exposure and expertise in the overall tax function.
Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation of the Arrowstreet sponsored funds’ federal, state, and local tax return work papers, partner tax allocations, and Schedule K-1 and K-3 documents
Assist with the management of international tax matters for the Arrowstreet sponsored funds, including the tax reclaim process, capital gain accruals, and related filings and payments
Manage engagements with external tax service providers and ensure tax deliverables are completed timely and accurately
Coordinate with fund brokers and counterparties regarding the updating and processing of fund tax documents (e.g., Form W-8 packages and withholding statements)
Monitor non-US withholding taxes in the funds and assist with the identification of opportunities to pursue dividend withholding tax reclaims
Monitor, track and oversee the preparation of upcoming tax compliance obligations
Assist with FATCA and CRS compliance
Assist with investor tax-related requests
Contribute to new fund or investor launch tax-related considerations and related initiatives
The ideal candidate will
Have direct work experience in the asset management industry with robust knowledge of partnership taxation issues
Have an intellectual curiosity for new tax considerations/issues and be committed to continuous improvement of their individual skill sets
Be extremely detail oriented with a superior work ethic and strong organizational, leadership, time management and communication skills
Perform at a high level both in an independent, self-directed manner and in a team environment
Qualifications
At least 3 years of experience with partnership tax issues as well as other relevant areas of federal, state and international taxation for investment managers and hedge funds
Knowledge of Subchapter K, financial products, partnership tax allocations, and other common book to tax adjustments
Experience with managing data from administrators and other service providers for tax purposes
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
