Who We Are Looking For
As an Assistant Vice President in State Street Global Advisors’ Operational Risk Management (ORM) team, you will support program strategy and framework implementation to ensure effective identification, measurement, control and management of SSGA operational risk primarily in North America. The role includes oversight for all asset management activities regionally, as well as any support or sub-delegated responsibilities outside of the region.
In this role you can anticipate substantive interaction with several global business functions, such as Investment Management, Operations, Trading, Product, Legal and Compliance, and will need to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. You will also drive a risk-aware culture throughout the organization by challenging the status quo and providing objective thought leadership to our organization and the financial industry.

The State Street Global Advisors Enterprise Risk Management team consists of over 70 risk professionals located in various locations across US, EMEA and APAC. As a combined group, we are responsible for identification, assessment, control and reporting of risk in five main areas: operational, investment, liquidity, credit, and model risk.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Support the overall operational risk program and framework of SSGA North America ’s business units together with ensuring the region’s ongoing quality of business unit programs.
- Provide support in the production of risk management information for relevant bodies (Committees, Forums, Legal Entity Boards etc.).
- Provide strategic oversight to business line development through identification and communication of emerging risks and themes.
- Provide risk oversight and reviews/challenges to various risk management programs such as Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Material Risk Identification (MRI), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), incident analysis, issues and findings identification and resolution
- Provide education and tools to the 1st line business to promote / enable self-assessment, measurement, reporting and management of operational risk.
- Ensure identification of reported incidents are assessed and tracked and corresponding initiatives are implemented as appropriate.
- Perform Targeted Risk Assessments, Incident Post-Mortem and ‘Deep Dive’ reviews and investigations in to operational processes and work with the business to ensure the development of action plans to remediate identified control gaps.
- Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity and ensure compliance with accepted industry practice, company policies, statute and regulatory requirements.

Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or business-related field, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in operational risk management, audit or related field.
- Willingness to use technology and systems to build value adding risk monitoring processes and reporting.
Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a financial services organization with demonstrable knowledge of process and control design, assessment and leading practices within the industry.
- Passion for complex problem solving and skill in strategies to drive engagement and visibility.
- Demonstrated understanding of the investment management business providing portfolio management and advisory services to individuals, institutions, trusts, private funds, charitable organizations, and investment companies.
- Good working knowledge of operational risk programs (Risk & Control Self-Assessment, Operational Risk Events, Issues Management, Key Risk Indicators, Scenario, etc.)
- Able to adapt and operate in dynamic environments, with ability to influence management and build key relationships.
- Excellent analytical, social and communication skills combined with ability to work independently with a can-do attitude.

Salary Range
$80.000 - $132.500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
