The DEI Consultant engages, inspires, and influences business leaders, human resources, and associates across the enterprise to understand and align with our DEI strategy and contribute meaningfully to progress.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Develop, lead, and execute strategies that align with the business and workplace objectives and drive progress against marketplace and workplace goals.
- Serve as the subject matter expert to consult and partner with key stakeholders across the enterprise, especially within HR, to ensure program design mitigates bias and furthers our DEI objectives.
- Lead and evolve Securian’s DEI Council that includes key leaders from across Securian’s DEI ecosystem including representatives from each division as well as the CEO.
- Create processes to effectively share DEI results with HRBPs and business leaders to build awareness and help business leaders set individual DEI goals.
- Participate in cross-functional committees, programs, and teams responsible for the development and implementation of HR initiatives.
- Design and facilitate education, presentations, and thought leadership pieces on DEI topics of varying levels of complexity for all levels of the organization.
- Represent Securian Financial with multiple external Organizations and Affiliations.
Qualifications:
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three to five years of strategy development in Human Resources or Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage large, complex projects that include multiple stakeholders and myriad timelines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain successful relationships with all levels of associates as well as external constituents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven leadership skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation and persuasion skills, diplomacy to determine and influence appropriate actions at all levels of the organization.
- Strong self-initiative and sense of urgency for results to independently manage situations and programs effectively.
- Innovative thinking and creativity to produce successful, cost effective and practical solutions to employee relation issues.
- Working knowledge of employment law and affirmative action policies and practices with the ability to interpret, use judgment and apply to our work.

Securian Financial believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. Associates get the benefit of working both virtually and in our offices. If you’re in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you’ll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn’t feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight day per month standard is an option.

Physical Job Requirements:
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
- Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 4-8 hours per day.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:
$69,500.00 - $129,000.00
Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
