Job Summary:
Cohen & Steers is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial professional to lead strategic planning efforts, focusing on identifying and evaluating organic and inorganic growth opportunities across both listed and private investment capabilities in the real assets and alternative income space. This will include the development of business cases for senior management to drive decision-making on major product initiatives across product lines and sales channels. In addition, the individual will provide research efforts to better inform the organization on key industry trends, client demand and competitor optics, leading to the identification of innovative product opportunities and new areas of growth. Key areas of focus include private capabilities in real estate and infrastructure, multi-asset strategies across real assets, and innovative ways to deliver our listed and private capabilities across multiple product wrappers (e.g. unlisted CEFs, non-traded REITs, ETFs). Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Lead complex product development initiatives across new strategies and vehicles (e.g. ETFs, SMAs, new capabilities etc.).
- Lead the development of long-term strategic plans focusing on existing strategies and new areas of growth (capabilities, wrappers, and channels).
- Develop business cases for strategic initiatives, distilling external market, client and capital markets optics while collaborating with the Investment, Distribution, and Product Management teams to arrive at an objective view of the opportunity.
- Source and evaluate inorganic opportunities to extend into new assets classes that align with our brand and strategic areas of focus.
- Engage in regular planning efforts with the Distribution and Investment teams to identify areas of opportunity and competitive threats, including innovative approaches to deliver our capabilities.
- Leverage external industry research and competitive trends to identify new product ideas and enhancements to existing products.
- Coordinating and conducting concept research and testing around new markets, channels and/or products.
Minimum Requirements:
- 7 years+ of investment-related experience. Prior Product Strategy, Product Development, Product Management experience in the investment management industry required.
- Knowledge of and experience with launching ETFs a plus.
- Strong preference for experience assessing/building private market products.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience required; MBA and/or CFA a plus.
- A leadership presence within the organization and confidence to present to senior audiences.
- Ability to proactively collaborate across departments to achieve team objectives.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong written, analytical and presentation skills.
- Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects on a timely basis.
- Proficiency with industry tools, such as Morningstar, eVestment and other industry-specific databases required.
