Job Summary:
Cohen & Steers is seeking an experienced financial writer to develop compelling thought leadership, market insights, investment reporting and promotional collateral in a highly collaborative environment. As part of the editorial team, this person will work closely with portfolio managers, investment analysts, product specialists, sales professionals, graphic designers and senior leadership to create timely and relevant content about investment opportunities and results in real assets and alternative income.
This person will deliver insightful thought leadership on financial markets across our firm’s web site, emails, client communications, and social media, as well as for external media engagement. They also must also be able to deliver content across multiple formats from written articles to data visualization and enhanced graphics to scripts for videos and webinars in both long and short form.
They should possess strong editorial experience developing succinct narratives on complex financial topics. They will be expected to work side by side with our subject matter experts, identifying the insights that matter to investors to build client and prospect engagement.
This person will also be responsible for creating scheduled investment commentaries for client communications and shareholder letters under tight deadlines, requiring effective interviewing skills, investment acumen, organization, project management and attention to detail.
This position has a high degree of visibility across the firm, providing opportunities to engage nearly every department at all levels. This role will also be integral in developing new communication channels and formats to expand the reach of our content.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Develop thought leadership content, working closely with the team leader and other stakeholders to deliver effective content that conveys the firm’s views.
- Create and deliver repeatable investment commentaries, leveraging internal interviews, analyst notes and knowledge of capital markets to educate clients about strategy performance and positioning as well as key market events.
- Take initiative to improve editorial processes and enhance content quality.
- Build strong working relationships across the firm.
- Ensure quality standards, deadlines and client needs are met.
- Work in collaboration with our creative team to deliver compelling content in multiple formats.
- Participate in developing content strategy, bringing knowledge of our investment strategies and business goals to strengthen the firm’s brand.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, with direct experience writing thought leadership and investment content.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, and a willingness to both provide and receive detailed constructive feedback.
- Knowledge of alternative investments preferred.
- Multi-media experience, especially data visualization expertise with an ability to partner with a creative team to tell stories through data.
- A strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong relationship management skills; highly motivated team player.
