Director, Change Management – HR Transformation

The Director, Change Management is part of the HR Transformation & Change function responsible for developing, overseeing, and enabling the appropriate and consistent application of the Schwab change management approach and its associated methodologies and tools across HR and Schwab. This includes overseeing all change management for HR and business critical initiatives by collaborating with key stakeholders across the firm to maximize change readiness and adoption. In addition, this position will develop and oversee the Change Management short-term and long-term strategic plans further embedding a change management culture into the ongoing evolution of HR and Schwab. In addition, this role will lead strategic initiatives to drive organizational transformation, manage change processes, and enhance operational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong blend of strategic insight, executional excellence, and the ability to inspire and elevate the organization through change. They will be a proactive, hands-on leader capable of managing complex transformations, fostering a resilient change culture, and delivering measurable results aligned with the organization’s vision.
Key Outcomes
- Build Change Strategy: Develop and drive a comprehensive change management strategy using methodologies, tools and frameworks elevating organizational capabilities to prepare our employees for the future.
- Strategic partner: Establish strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, to assess impacts, prioritization, support cultural shifts, and ensure the seamless adoption of new business processes, technologies, and operational frameworks.
- Leadership & Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing and engaged change management team, by shaping a compelling strategy, creating an inspired team environment, and continuously building the capabilities of the team in a manner aligned to the strategy of HR/Schwab.
- Relationship Development: Build strong relationships across a variety of functions and leverage to exchange ideas, resources, and support.
- Cultural alignment - Advocate for a change-positive culture; leading by example and empowering employees at all levels to embrace change.
- Collaborate Effectively: Work with HR Centers of Excellence (COE) and Key Stakeholders across Schwab to drive change readiness.
- Initiative Execution: Lead team to success through end-to-end execution of change initiatives including designing frameworks, measuring change impacts, and using data-driven insights to adjust approach/plan.
- Build Community: Partner with peers to oversee and optimize the change management community of practice across Schwab to ensure best in class delivery, prioritization, and measurement for overall change readiness.
- Teamwork: Communicates clear priorities and objectives while driving the team to achieve exceptional delivery and results.
- Guide: Change-related communications: Work with key stakeholders and communication team to align on Change messaging and timing; anticipate employee thoughts/concerns and proactively address them, while balancing needs of all stakeholders.
- Key Performance Indicators: Measure impacts and insights on how employees are experiencing change; mitigating change fatigue through key findings for the HR Leadership Team (HRLT) and Key Stakeholders.
What you have
Required Experience
- 10+ years of work experience, including 2-3 years of creating and executing Center of Excellence functional strategy; significant experience in organizational change management or operational readiness for large-scale, multi-year initiatives in an environment of similar scale and complexity.
- Strong executive presence and relationship management skills; ability to influence senior leadership and enroll employee support and engagement.
- Proven people leader capable of motivating and developing the team by prioritizing the most impactful work, driving accountability through individual coaching, and creating an environment where all people can do their best work.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability developing materials and effectively presenting information to target audiences, communication formats & channels.
- Superior analytical skills, creativity in problem solving, and attention to detail. Able to independently measure impact of change program and interventions to people and process related concerns.
- Bachelor's degree required. Post graduate degree, professional designations and certifications are plusses.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in matrixed and direct team leadership.
- Capability and willingness to operate in both a strategic and hands-on manner focused team development, efficiency, and collaboration.
- Experience leveraging business and strategic acumen to navigate ambiguity and complex situations.
