We are seeking a Senior Analyst to join our Investment Management (IM) Strategy Team. This team takes a lead role in identifying, evaluating, and executing growth and other strategic initiatives for the institutional asset management business of William Blair. Our key stakeholders include the Global Head of Investment Management and business leaders across distribution, investments, and operations.
This is a high-impact role that offers significant visibility within the organization, with direct involvement in shaping the firm’s strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Support strategic planning and execution of key initiatives to achieve IM’s business goals
- Analyze potential M&A, investments, and other strategic initiatives to support senior leadership in making key decisions:
- Construct financial models and valuation analyses
- Contribute to all aspects of due diligence
- Develop presentation materials and related collateral for all stages of the process
- Perform market research and competitor analysis to identify risks and opportunities
- Collaborate cross-functionally across the organization and provide analytical and implementation support of projects and initiatives that drive the business forward
- Develop presentation materials for the senior leadership of IM
- Serve as an analytical, objective thought partner to internal stakeholders, helping refine strategic decisions with data-driven insights
- Build a broad understanding of IM’s business (including its investment products, client channels, and the competitive and regulatory environment) to make increasingly impactful contributions to the Strategy Team and IM
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies
- Additional responsibilities aligned with the firm’s strategic priorities, as requested
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (business, finance, or related field preferred)
- Experience: 5 – 8 years of relevant business experience including investment banking, equity research, in-house corporate strategy, and business consulting
- Skills:
- Strong command of Excel/PowerPoint
- Familiarity with financial statements and experience building financial models
- Interest in the investment management industry; prior experience in the industry is a plus
- Familiarity with key industry databases (e.g., eVestment) ideal but not required
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including demonstrated experience with research, data gathering, and information synthesis
- Demonstrated ability to be a collaborative team player with strong work ethic
- High level of organizational skills with ability to balance, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities in a high-paced environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate complex topics in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in and across diverse, multi-functional teams
- Embraces feedback and strives for continuous improvement
