The Role:
Blue Owl is seeking an Investment Analyst or Junior Associate (1 – 3 years industry experience) to join the Technology Growth Investing Team. The Growth team invests behind growth stage technology companies through equity, structured equity, and debt. Blue Owl current has $235 billion of AUM and is comprised of a team of seasoned investment professionals with significant and diverse experience from some of the world’s leading investment firms and financial institutions.
We seek to provide our investors with attractive risk-adjusted returns by originating, executing, and managing investments in growth-oriented software, internet, and tech-enabled services businesses that have demonstrated product-market fit and meaningful revenue traction. The Growth team’s flexibility to invest across multiple layers of the capital stack enables businesses to balance the cost of capital against their forward growth strategy and ultimately partner with Blue Owl across multiple stages of business expansion. The Growth team has invested behind market leading businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze potential investment opportunities and engage in all aspects of due diligence and business analysis to develop and refine investment theses
- Complete due diligence including review of investment target information and data room, industry research, financial modeling, financial statement review, interaction with management, use of consultants, and review of third party reports, etc.
- Prepare analysis and memorandums used for internal discussions and formal investment committee approval processes
- Participate in deal team discussions and presentations with investment committee
- Aid in deal origination through market research, targeted thesis building, and direct outreach to companies and earlier stage investors
- Liaise directly with management teams and third party due diligence providers during deal origination and underwriting process
- Participate in the transaction closing, which includes legal documentation and funding operations
- Perform ongoing due diligence and monitoring of portfolio companies; communicate updates to the investment committee (orally and written)
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated 1-3 years of experience in investing, investment banking, and/or consulting. Prior experience with growth-stage or structured equity investing is a plus but not required
- Genuine passion for the intersection of technology, business models & strategy, and investing
- Strong financial modeling, research and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, maturity, and communication capabilities; ability to connect, establish credibility, and build lasting relationships with company founders, CEOs, and outside investors
- Ability to multi-task and balance several workstreams concurrently
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint
- Desire and willingness to work in Menlo Park office approximately four days a week and travel as needed

It is expected that the base annual salary range for this California-based position will be $125,000 to $150,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
