Director, Head of Mutual Fund Services
Location: Portland, Maine
The senior leader at Apex Mutual Fund Services in Porland will be responsible for all aspects of managing the local franchise. Primary responsibilities include oversight for staff and products related delivery of Transfer Agency, Fund Administration, Tax and Fund Accounting services. To deliver those products the site manager will work closely with Apex management and all relevant internal stakeholders. They will maintain close client relationships and actively represent Apex Fund Services to client senior management and Fund Boards of Directors.
The Head of Portland Mutual Fund Services will oversee timely and accurate management of daily activities which include operational processing with adherence to regulatory requirements in a strong control environment. They will engage as needed with industry partners including regulators, auditors, technology providers, and relevant industry working groups.
Job specification
- High-level strategic relationship building with counterparties and client presentations
- Business planning with a view to developing proposed operations and their profitability
- Reporting to the Senior Management on operational progress and presenting plans for future activities
- Serving as a Director on the Atlantic Fund Services Board
- Motivating staff while managing costs to meet company targets
- Remaining abreast of compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements
- Prime point of contact for external parties, including regulators, press, potential clients, market counterparties, etc.
- Has ultimate responsibility for the day-to-day management, supervision and control of all parts of the business in accordance with the business objectives and strategies approved or set by the Board
- Responsible for dealing with the apportionment of responsibilities and overseeing the establishment and maintenance of systems and controls
- Leading the strategic planning and budget process for the Portland business
- Liaising over the internal and external audits of the Firm and the industry regulators
- Implementing and managing appropriate IT infra-structure and systems required to support the business
Skills Required:
- 15+ years in Fund Services management role incorporating the above functions
- Strong educational background with advanced degree preferred
- Strong PC skills including Word, Excel and Power Point
- Strong marketing and sales skills to lead business development initiatives for the franchise
- Proactive approach and willing to drive the business
- Ability to work in fast paced environment to meet aggressive deadlines
- Flexible in work approach to meet client deliverables
- Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills
- Capacity to problem-solve and ability to deal with complex issues
- A participative management style that aims to motivate staff and develop their skills and capabilities.
