The Role:
Blue Owl is seeking a Principal to join the Real Estate Finance investment team. Our Real Estate platform currently has over $27B of AUM and comprises a team of seasoned investment professionals with significant and diverse experience from some of the world’s leading investment firms and financial institutions.
We seek to provide our investors with attractive risk-adjusted returns by originating, executing, and managing investments, including mortgages, mezzanine loans, securities, and customized capital solutions. The team works with real estate sponsors and operators across sectors with a focus on serving as the capital partner of choice for leading institutions. Blue Owl’s approach to investing emphasizes capital preservation and flexibility by providing partners with comprehensive solutions to address the clients’ needs in today’s market environment with certainty, speed, and transparency throughout the entire investment process.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the identification, structuring, and origination of new investments across the capital structure, with an emphasis on direct lending, preferred equity, single loan or portfolio acquisitions, securitized assets, and JV partnerships or platform investments.
- Drive all aspects of due diligence and credit analysis to develop and refine investment theses. This includes completing due diligence, asset-level analysis, deal negotiation, structuring, and financial modeling.
- Guide the development of investment memos and supporting analysis to help drive the investment process and inform the decision-making of our investment committee.
- Manage portfolio management and asset allocation for our various strategies and investment objectives.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from a top-tier undergraduate program is required.
- A graduate degree or CFA is welcomed but not required.
- 10-15 years of experience in real estate finance investing (preferably in private equity, private credit, family office, hedge fund, investment banking, or REIT acquisitions roles).
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with autonomy to accomplish objectives promptly.
- Strong underwriting and structuring ability and financial modeling aptitude (required).
It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be $200,000 to $250,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
