Role Overview:
Due to the significant growth and expansion of our Credit Platform, based in our Coral Gables office, we are currently seeking a Fund Accountant (with potential to be a Senior Fund Accountant) to join the Credit Funds team. The successful candidate will be joining a strong team where the focus will be on providing opportunities to grow, develop and be successful in your career.
The candidate will be intimately involved with assisting in the execution of the day-to-day accounting operations as well as the monthly and/or quarterly accounting close and financial reporting processes related to the candidate’s Credit Funds. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in high profile projects building out the accounting and operational infrastructure of the Credit Platform to become world class.
The selected candidate will work with teams across the organization, including the Investment, Operations, Valuation, Tax, Investor Services, Treasury, and Capital Formation Teams, in carrying out the accounting, financial, and investor reporting responsibilities of the Credit Funds. This will provide the candidate with a broad range of exposure to different aspects of the business and create great networking opportunities.
To accomplish these goals, the candidate will have supervision responsibilities over a team of offshore accounting personnel. This will provide the candidate the management responsibilities and opportunities to build and grow a successful team.
Role Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the Investment and Operations teams on a daily basis to ensure the accounting books and records are accurate.
- Participate in monitoring all investments and analyze the related performance; Engage directly with the investment and origination professionals to handle multifaceted inquiries.
- Work with a team of offshore personnel; Ensure offshore personnel are a successful extension of our team and are given opportunities to grow and expand their careers. This will provide everyone with opportunities to further expand their career.
- Responsible for managing the accounting as well as the preparation and approval of the quarterly financial reports, and compliance and investor reporting for all assigned Funds. Ensure compliance with the Funds’ governing documents as well as GAAP and SEC (if applicable) requirements.
- Coordinate the posting of all financial reporting to Limited Partners and Senior Management.
- Research and propose accounting treatment for new or potential accounting guidance to facilitate discussion and conclusion with other senior team members.
- Have a thorough understanding of all concepts within assigned Funds' governing documents (PPM, LPAs, IMAs, etc.), and be able to articulate and apply them correctly in carrying out day-to-day management of assigned Funds.
- Review call/distribution notices, credit line draw/paydown/other notices, partner capital statements and quarterly investor letters and liaise with Investor Services team in the distribution of such deliverables and in preparing responses to periodic investor requests/questions.
- Assist in the quarterly review of the Valuation process relating to assigned Funds’ portfolio investments.
- Participate in monitoring all investments and analyze the related performance. Help to prepare analyses or responses to address requests from Investment and/or Origination professionals.
- Train, coach and supervise lesser-experienced accounting team members.
- Work with technology teams to implement solutions to improve process and reporting efficiency, including validating enhancements to system reports and functionality.
- Interact with Tax Team to ensure that all tax information is compiled properly.
- Assist with special projects and internal ad-hoc requests and undertake broader team and/or office initiatives.
- Work with a third party administration team for reporting, operations, and financial statements, as applicable.

- Strong Excel skills. Macro/VBA skills – a plus.
- Undergraduate or Post-Graduate degree in Accounting required.
- 2-6 years of experience related to alternative investments in private industry (e.g., hedge fund, private equity, bank, administrator, etc.) or public accounting.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of Investment Company financial reporting required.
- Experience with distressed debt, credit instruments, and/or originated loans – preferred.
- Knowledge or exposure to Investran and/or Virtual Portfolio Manager (“VPM”) or similar portfolio accounting system – a plus.
