The Opportunity:
ECI has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Co-op to join our Technology Services team. In this role, you will will gain hands-on experience in our MSP environment and learn the fundamentals of IT service delivery. You will acquire valuable experience in IT engineering and related activities necessary to maintain our clients’ environments efficiently and effectively. This position involves hands-on work with PC workstations, firewalls, routers, switches, servers, and circuit IP/subnet addressing and configurations. Additionally, you will participate in project execution, developing skills to manage tasks and communicate progress and status updates effectively.
This is an
onsite role for candidates based in the New York, NY area.
What you will do:
Technical Support:
- Engaging with helpdesk calls and resolving basic technical issues related to desktops, servers, networks, and applications.
- Troubleshooting common problems with operating systems, software applications, network connectivity, and hardware.
- Remotely accessing client systems to diagnose and fix issues.
- Assist in the resolution of incidents and requests related to, but not limited to, Mail Application/Office 365 issues, Client/Server Connectivity issues, Time Sensitive and VIP Workstation incidents, File Restores, Remote Access incidents (Citrix and Terminal Services), Password Resets, and Networked Printer Issues.
- Reinstall Operating Systems and all appropriate drivers.
- Resolve level 1 and 2 support cases and work orders associated with end-user issues, physical and cloud infrastructure, and project-related tasks. Escalate all problems to the next level of support for guidance and contact third-party vendors for warranty service repair.
- Client Account Management:
- Maintaining client information and documentation within internal ticketing systems.
- Communicating with clients regarding service updates, incident status, and scheduled maintenance.
- Proactively monitoring client systems for potential issues.
- See the world through the eyes of the customer by setting client expectations appropriately throughout the troubleshooting process.
System Monitoring and Administration:
- Utilizing system monitoring tools to identify and address network performance issues.
- Managing backups and data recovery processes.
- Implementing security updates and patches on client systems.
- Execute basic system maintenance including software and operating system patching, software version upgrades, and critical patch applications.
- Provide support of Active Directory such as adding/removing users, password resets, Group Policy application, and task scheduling.
- Interface with common technology support tools such as Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) and Mobile Device Management (MDM).
Project Assistance:
- Supporting IT projects like new server deployments, network upgrades, or software installations.
- Assisting with data migration and configuration tasks.
- Participation in project execution, where you will develop skills to effectively manage tasks and communicate progress and status updates.
- Documentation and Knowledge Base:
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation for internal reference and client knowledge base.
- Documenting troubleshooting steps and solutions for recurring issues.
- Learning and Development:
- Participating in training sessions to develop skills in various IT technologies and industry best practices.
- Shadowing experienced IT professionals to gain a deeper understanding of MSP operation
Who you are:
- Must be enrolled in a BA/S program majoring in computer science, computer networking, or a related major with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Understanding of networking concepts: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing, Switching, and Firewalls.
- Understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems such as Windows Server and Windows 10/11.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 (O365).
- Experience with Active Directory including account creation, modification, and password resets.
- Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Client VPN setup and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of e-mail and spam technologies, and how messaging flows through these systems.
- Basic understanding of cyber-security concepts and technologies, such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to articulate technical information to non-technical people.
- Excellent prioritization skills and an ability to see the world through the eyes of the customer.
- Hands-on hardware experience with desktops, laptops, and servers.
- Familiarity with file system support including permissions, sharing, backups, and restores.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience in ITIL and service management
- Experience with Managed Service Providers (MSP).
- Experience with VM Ware.
- Experience with Azure.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in an independent environment with moderate supervision
- Ability to work under a moderate noise level (i.e. working on an open floor with printers, telephones, and computers)
- Ability to be flexible and successfully respond to multiple work pressures
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components
