Reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations, this position is responsible for establishing the corporate-wide strategic direction for networking at Baird. This position as a member of the IT Leadership Team establishes goals and objectives for the Network Team and Unified Communications/Telecom team members. In addition to the direct leadership of the network team, this position also has oversight of the Telecom team through the Unified Communications Manager to help consistently evolve Baird’s voice/unified collaboration strategy. Additionally, the position will maintain a close working relationships with our Server Team and IT Security teams.
As a Sr Network Manager, You Will
- Manage the design, installation, maintenance, and monitoring of Baird’s global networks, including all network routing and switching
- Lead the development, management and implementation of Baird’s networking strategy
- Support and deploy applications such as LAN, WAN, WLAN, Network Security and Application Delivery products
- Oversee network team’s change management processes and adherence to networking best practices and solutions
- Create and communicate key networking metrics to IT Senior Leadership Team.
- Focuses on individual and team performance/development planning and goal setting.
- Responsible for the activities of the team, leading change management and risk management efforts, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of the projects.
- Serves as a member of the IT Leadership Team, and collaborates with leaders and team members from across IT.
- Serve as key contact for all carrier and network vendor relationships
- Directly manage the Unified Communications Manager and help set voice/collaboration strategy
- Serve as key contact for operational and emerging network needs of various business units
- Working with IT Provisioning, approve all WAN circuit orders
- Serve as escalation point for datacenter operations/operational issues
- Approve all related vendor invoices.

What We Look For
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years prior experience working with computer networking required.
- Five or more years of previous leadership experience required.
- Strong team building, teamwork and collaboration skills. Proven track record of developing solid working-relationships with associates at all levels.
- Ability to think strategically and carry out a vision. Advanced skills in leadership, communication, and influence and conflict resolution.
- CCNP or equivalent experience required and strong Cisco experience preferred.
- Experience at an employer with high uptime requirements.
- Experience managing a team with a geographically distributed network of offices are strong positives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Requires on-call incident escalation and off-hours maintenance work.
