Position Summary:
This individual will lead the CLO business within the Securitized Products Group at MUFG. He or she will work with CLO manager clients, AAA anchor investors and majority equity investors to identify, originate and execute CLO transactions. This individual will also work with and manage the experienced MUFG CLO Banking team and CLO Syndicate colleague. This is a leadership role that will drive the growth of the CLO business.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage existing relationships and utilize market knowledge to lead the marketing effort of the CLO business
- Lead and manage the origination and execution process for new CLO transactions
- Manage and maintain a solid transaction pipeline and chart the direction of the CLO business through market cycles
- Develop, cultivate, and maintain strong manager and lead investor relationships
- Partner with and utilize the Banking, Syndicate and Sales resources throughout the origination and execution process
- Lead and supervise the creation and maintenance of marketing materials for CLO manager and investor clients, for pitching and other purposes
- Maintain constant dialog with clients and react quickly to new market trends to create transaction opportunities
- Maintain thorough understanding of the CLO manager universe and the CLO market
- Coordinate and conduct deal and non-deal related roadshows
- Lead the CLO team’s organization and participation in industry conferences
- Mentor, partner with and lead the CLO banking and syndicate teams
- Participate in special assignments and projects as required
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a CLO Origination and/or CLO Banking role at a large global bank
- Demonstrated track record in sourcing and executing CLO mandates
- Deep understanding of CLO manager goals, motivations and demands towards arrangers
- Extensive connections among CLO managers and thorough knowledge of the CLO market
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills
- Sophisticated and polished marketing skills and ability to articulate a clear, concise message
- Results driven, with a strong sense of initiative and accountability
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field
The typical base pay range for this role is between $350K - $400K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
