POSITION PURPOSE:
The Director, Corporate FP&A will lead CIM’s corporate financial planning (budgeting, forecasting, analysis). In partnership with the Principal, Corporate Development & FP&A, this role will also support execution of financial M&A integration work, technical accounting analysis and other corporate strategic initiatives. The Director, Corporate FP&A will be a critical partner across various internal teams and as such, should provide a high level of customer service to CIM employees across all departments and levels.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide primary ownership over all forward-looking financial projections and budgeting related to CIM’s management company
- Manage the day-to-day of a 1-2 headcount Corporate FP&A team (includes work assignment and review, communicating performance expectations, managing & optimizing performance, providing ongoing feedback)
- Partner with the executive management team to facilitate strategic planning and analysis. Run and manage multiple scenarios that reflect the most recent same store business plan, capital markets transactions and/or acquisitions
- Continuously improve systems, business processes and reporting capabilities of the Corporate FP&A team
- Assume overall responsibility for the completeness, accuracy and integrity of source data used in budgets, reforecasts, and internal management reports
- Optimize and/or implement relevant processes to gather, analyze and store benchmarking metrics, ensuring necessary tools are in place to drive business decision making. Includes providing ongoing, relevant public company competitor set benchmarking and analyses of the alternative asset management industry
- Coordinate with Investments, Capital Markets, and Finance Leadership to ensure that recurring and ad-hoc analyses prepared by FP&A meets the needs of all stakeholders and is delivered accurately, efficiently and timely
- Assist Investments teams with transaction support work (including corporate M&A, new investments, and/or financing for the management company). Provide support for due diligence and other related requests, as needed
- In partnership with relevant teams, support execution of M&A integration work. Specifically, manage implementation of business process initiatives to ensure the accuracy, reliability and efficiency of the accounting, budgeting and forecasting processes. Identify opportunities for cost reductions and synergies throughout the company, as part of integration efforts
- Provide analyses of NPV and monitor payback of internal initiatives. Includes ongoing project support to a) enable forward progress on initiatives, and b) ensure economics remain on track/aligned to business outcomes
- Apply knowledge of US GAAP and fair-value GAAP to ensure fair-value adjustments are appropriately layered into cash flow actual results and projections on a consistent basis
- Additional projects, as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (including certification, licenses, etc.)- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience in FP&A
- Demonstrated experience providing technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, business combinations, revenue recognition, etc. required. Prior asset and investment management business experience a plus (incl. corporate aspects of alternative asset management)
- Investment banking, private equity or management consulting industry experience preferred
- CPA, CFA, MBA preferred
- Experience with public company benchmarking and analyses of the alternative asset management industry a plus
- Big 4 or other public accounting experience preferred, specifically Transaction Services
ABOUT YOU:- Highest level of technical expertise in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Access & PowerPoint
- Complex financial modeling experience required
- Exceptional to technical with US GAAP required; IFRS and/or other GAAP basis a plus
- Programming experience with SQL, Excel Macros (VBA) or other similar languages (optional)
- Experience with Adaptive Planning, Yardi, Argus, or similar forecasting software preferred

Actual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required. At CIM, base pay is one part of the total compensation package. For this role, bonus compensation may be a significant part of the total compensation. The anticipated base salary range for the position in Los Angeles, CA is $155,000 - $215,000.
