Are you an experienced income tax professional? Does partnering with financial advisors and their largest and best clients on estate and financial planning issues motivate you?
We’re looking for someone like you who can:
- enhance the UHNW client acquisition and retention process by contributing sophisticated advice related to income tax planning, wealth transfer and philanthropic planning
- educate financial advisors and members of the Advanced Planning Group in the areas of income tax and financial planning
- articulate a concise message to both the client and UBS financial advisor, as an advice provider in a comprehensive wealth planning context

Your team
As a member of the Advanced Planning group, you partner with the Advanced Planning team (comprised of former practicing estate planning attorneys and tax professionals) and financial advisors to proactively engage clients and prospects with a net worth of $100mm and above in a dialogue surrounding advanced income tax strategies, and the integration of those strategies with their estate plan and investment portfolios. You will prepare comprehensive analysis and review of a client's income tax planning (on an individual and entity basis), assist clients with establishing family offices, educate clients on opportunities for additional planning, and including a review of estate planning structures. You will serve as a member of UBS's in-house "think-tank," by creating timely articles on income tax planning for internal and external publications and participating in speaking engagements.
Your expertise
- ideally, 3+ years experience working at a financial, accounting or law firm that provided relevant experience to perform the duties described above
- advanced degree or designation required (e.g., JD, CPA, Paralegal certificate/degree)
- ability to review and understand both basic estate planning documents as well as documents implementing more complex estate planning strategies, such as irrevocable trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts and split-interest charitable trusts
- active Series 7 and 66 licenses (or are required to obtain them upon hire)
- ability to understand and assimilate complex personal financial information (tax returns, investment statements, incentive benefits, employee benefits and compensation, life insurance policies, business interests, qualified and nonqualified retirement plan information, pension and annuity information, social security, deferred compensation information, related retirement and benefits data, incentive and nonqualified stock option and restricted stock information)
- experience with the following areas, techniques and strategies: personal income; estate; gift; GST and trust tax disciplines; advanced wealth transfer planning techniques such as Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts, Qualified Personal Residence Trusts, Family Limited Partnerships, Defective Grantor Trusts, Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts, Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, Private Foundations, Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax, planning with concentrated stock positions, incentive benefits, non-qualified stock options, incentive stock options, and restricted stock
