About the Position
The position of a fixed income manager research specialist plays a critical role on the Global Manager Research (GMR) team at Callan, a leading independent investment consulting firm. As a fixed income research specialist, you will join a collaborative group of research professionals focused on conducting investment manager due diligence and searches. In addition, you will provide market and asset class updates to consultants and clients, prepare and present at Callan-hosted client conferences, and provide analytical insights through explorative and diligent asset class research.
We seek a candidate with a genuine interest in capital markets, fixed income investing, and research. You will interact and communicate with all GMR team members to gain knowledge and exposure in all public market asset classes. Please note: This position will be based in one of the above-mentioned Callan office locations, working a hybrid (office/home) schedule with approximately two to three (2-3) days a week in the office.

Primary Duties
–Conduct investment manager searches across the fixed income investment style and market cap spectrum leveraging Callan’s proprietary screening tool and database of over 10,000 investment strategies
–Support consultants and clients by responding to requests for analysis on current investments
–Evaluate and monitor investment managers across a wide range of criteria and articulate your opinions verbally and in writing
–Collaborate with Callan consultants and other research professionals across all Callan offices on client educational topics, portfolio structure, and general public fixed income asset class questions
–Contribute to Callan’s research output through blog posts, creative thought pieces, client workshops, and market-related webcasts
–Pursue and develop research interests beyond fixed income including ESG, DEI, and industry trends

Education and Experience:
–Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance, statistics, economics, or related degree
–Minimum experience of 3-5+ years in the investment or financial industry
–Three+ years of relevant fixed income industry experience preferred
–Progress toward or interest in earning the CFA and/or CAIA designation (if not yet earned)

The range listed represents what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Depending on the qualifications and level of work experience of the ideal candidate, we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and may be modified in the future.
