What you’ll be doing
As a Community Development Relationship Manager (RM), you’ll be responsible for bringing in new small business relationships while maintaining and growing existing ones. You’ll focus on small businesses located in low-to-moderate income census tracts within the Bank’s CRA assessment areas, targeting businesses with annual revenues under $1 million.
This role involves underwriting and originating loans, analyzing cash flows, managing credit exposures, and representing CIBC in community outreach efforts. You’ll build referral networks and collaborate with community partners, entrepreneurial training organizations, and internal teams to drive business growth.
How you’ll succeed
Expand small business lending: Cultivate new relationships and grow existing ones by presenting CIBC’s lending programs and products to meet the needs of small businesses.
Engage in community outreach: Actively participate in community and civic events, represent CIBC at non-profit functions, and develop partnerships to generate referral opportunities.
Collaborate across teams: Partner with the Community Development Portfolio Manager, Client Specialist, and other internal teams to underwrite and manage community development loans.
Manage client portfolios: Oversee credit exposures, analyze cash flows, monitor payment and maturity schedules, and ensure accounts remain in good standing.
Contribute to team success: Share success stories, address challenges, and suggest process improvements during group sales meetings.
Who you are
Experienced in lending: You have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in small business lending or community development, including underwriting and cash flow analysis. Formal credit training is preferred.
Fluent in Spanish: You are fully fluent in Spanish, particularly in spoken communication, with written proficiency preferred to support diverse clients effectively.
Relationship-focused: You’re skilled at building and maintaining relationships with small businesses and community organizations.
Community-oriented: You’re passionate about supporting small businesses at all stages, from start-up to established operations, and are actively involved in community leadership roles.
Organized and proactive: You can manage multiple task and timelines independently while maintaining a strong attention to detail.•
A strong communicator: You excel at verbal and written communication and are comfortable presenting to groups.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $105,000 - $135,000 for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
