TREASURY AND RISK ANALYST
Job Description
The Treasury and Risk teams at Ellington are seeking an Analyst to support the efforts of both departments. This Analyst will have an opportunity to work on everything that more senior team members lack the bandwidth to manage. This will mean lots of work, but also exposure to everything that Ellington does to support its various trading strategies. The Analyst will report directly to the Head of the Middle Office, but will work with Portfolio Management, Risk, Research, Accounting, Valuation, and Compliance. For the applicant unsure of what hedge funds even do, but confident in their work ethic and intelligence, this is an opportunity to enter a demanding industry with a chance to grow. The position will be located at our office in New York, NY.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Assist in team response to daily flow of requests and inquiries from Portfolio Management and Risk Oversight
- Coordinate trade agreement legal negotiation and operational onboarding
- Risk report monitoring and escalation
- Support for monthly valuation process, including data analysis and coordination with Portfolio Management
- Liquidity (cash) monitoring and management
- Repo trading
- Implementation of investment guideline controls and oversight
- Assist in relationship management and support for prime brokerage and swap financing arrangements
- Resolve settlement issues, resolve trade-related problems, and cash reconciliation
- Data integrity monitoring and remediation
Desirable qualifications:
- Clear and organized habits of thought
- Strong work ethic
- Undergraduate degree, with either demonstrated academic excellence or a very good explanation
- Extremely detailed oriented
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Quick and flexible learner with initiative to identify needed improvements and execute on projects with minimal oversight
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel and some familiarity with various programming languages (SQL, Python, .Net, etc.)
Compensation:
$90,000-110,000 base salary, based on experience plus competitive bonus.
