Job Description
Ares is seeking a new Associate to join the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team. The DEI Associate will partner with the Principal, DEI Business and Investment Process Lead to advance and embed DEI into Ares’ Investment Platform processes and decision-making. The Associate will cover a workload which includes both on-going responsibilities and project-based work (research, materials creation, stakeholder and project management, etc.) across both Ares’ DEI and broader Corporate Sustainability and Responsible Investment initiatives. Primary functions & responsibilities
In partnership with the Principal, DEI Business and Investment Process Lead (B&IP), the Associate will be expected to:
Support management of DEI Champions to drive action and accountability on our DEI objectives
Support DEI engagements with portfolio companies, investment professionals, clients and external stakeholders as needed
Lead creation of internal / external materials for board presentations, DEI B&IP workstreams, and client meetings
Conduct benchmarking analysis and action plans for Ares’ improvements in DEI integration
Conduct research and communicate findings on industry trends and frameworks, in addition to ad hoc deep-dive research topics
Support the maintenance and enhancement of Ares’ DEI capabilities, including staying abreast of industry trends and regulations, and engaging with industry associations
Manage operational responsibilities for the pillar including preparation and minutes for key meetings
Partner with the DEI team to develop resources and support other special projects as needed
Qualifications
Education:
Experience Required:
Passion for DEI, ESG, and/or impact investing, with an entry level understanding of (or strong appetite to learn about) DEI data, frameworks, reporting, and industry best practices
Minimum 4 years of work experience in a professional work environment
Prior experience in Financial Services, Consulting or Impact Investing is preferred
Prior experience with data analytics and data visualization is preferred
Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Word; proficiency in Excel

Strong analytical and written / verbal communication skills, including synthesizing research and concepts into actionable insights and investor-facing deliverables in a timely manner

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$100,000-$120,000
