POSITION: Intermediate Analyst, Investor Operations, Private Credit (Fund Operations)
Northleaf is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Analyst, Investor Operations to join their growing private credit team. This position is based in Northleaf’s Toronto office and reports to the Senior Manager, Investor Operations.
The successful Intermediate Analyst will work closely with the Investor Operations Private Credit team and the third-party administrator and will be directly involved in or supporting fund operations and fund reporting for private credit investments, while delivering clear and concise financial reporting to investors.
Accountabilities
The Intermediate Analyst, Investor Operations, Private Credit will be a key contributor to the continued growth of the private credit platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the following business functions:
- Fund Operations
- Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Liquidity Management
Specific responsibilities will include:
Fund Operations (50%)
- Prepare management fee and incentive fee calculations against third-party administrator records for review
- Liaise with Treasury, Corporate Accounting and Tax teams (where applicable) and process fund operating expenses for internal approval
- Prepare ad-hoc investor reporting such as monthly and/or quarterly valuation estimates
- Collaborate with Investor Servicing team to maintain and review internal investor records in the CRM Investran database (including fee rates)
- Set-up new Northleaf funds, investments and upload investor AUM data and cash flows in Investran
Financial Reporting and Analysis (40%)
- Review financial NAV packages, capital account statements and business reports produced by third-party administrator for completeness and accuracy
- Prepare and contribute to the production of investor quarterly reports to summarize fund activity and performance
- Prepare fund return analysis for internal review and discussion
- Collaborate with third-party administrators to produce and review financial statements in accordance with ASPE and meets reporting needs for tax and credit facilities
- Assist with annual and compliance audit of the private credit funds
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives
Liquidity and Capital Activity Management (10%)
- Collaborate with Liquidity and Investment Operations teams to meet fund liquidity requirements
- Liaise with Investor Services team and third-party administrator to prepare and process investor capital calls and distributions
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting and/or operations experience in the financial services industry (private credit, private equity, infrastructure, alternative investment fund background preferred)
- Knowledge and interest in private markets and investments
- Completion of or enrollment in professional designations such as CPA or CFA an asset
- Intellectually curious and seeking continuous learning opportunities in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- A self-starter who is analytical and forward thinking with the ability to drill down into data and issues
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize to effectively manage tasks to completion within required timeframes
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment on multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative – research and/or investigate issues requiring resolution in order to execute on assigned tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written) with the ability to liaise with all levels of individuals both internally and externally
- Strong Excel skills including macros, and pivot tables
- Technical proficiency (e.g., Excel/PowerPoint; further skills related to use of databases and VBA programming are considered a plus)
