Overview
The Portfolio Analyst is a member of the Portfolio & Risk Analysis group on the investment team at Fort Washington Investment Advisors with varying responsibilities. The primary goal of the centralized Portfolio & Risk Analysis function is to work closely with the investment team and operations group to increase efficiencies and data accuracy with improved reporting and dynamic portfolio analysis of both third party institutional accounts and Western & Southern's balance sheet. The associate is exposed to all facets of investment management processes, including portfolio construction, trading, risk management and reporting. The associate will have exposure to a broad range of asset classes and sectors within Fixed Income and Public Equity and will specialize in a specific area. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to management when necessary and updating manager on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
- Collaborates with all areas within the Enterprise to review, validate, and enhance data used by investment team, including daily performance and analytics. Addresses data discrepancies, errors and other inconsistencies in a timely manner.
- Maintains, enhances, and centralizes internal portfolio, risk, and performance analysis tools and reporting used by the investment team.
- Supports data gathering and reporting for internal risk management as well as customized and standardized reporting for all affiliated and external clients.
- Works closely with Marketing, Client Service, and Operations on development and maintenance of marketing material and client reviews.
- Seeks to improve existing infrastructure; increase efficiencies and consistency across investment desks and sources while improving systems utilization and knowledge; drive data integrity and process optimization.
- Assists with the use and maintenance of portfolio management and trading systems, including Bloomberg, PAM, PACE, MarketAxess, TradeWeb, Trepp, Intex, FactSet, and Markit EDM. Assists in review and diligence of new systems.
- Provides input into the construction, management and monitoring of portfolios - this includes risk positioning, trade strategies and implementation.
- Potential to evolve into a decision-making member of the investment team, with the ability to analyze and recommend investments for inclusion in various mandates.
- Works closely with Operations group on all related matters and serves as liaison between Operations and Investment Team.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree In business (finance, accounting, economics, information technology, etc.) or quantitative-related field (Preferred) and
- MBA (Preferred)
- Typically requires three years of industry experience. (Required) and
- Proven experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Excellent organization and time management methods used to manage or prioritize workload demands is essential. Proven experience in project management including planning, executing and maintaining a project from start to finish. (Required) and
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work independently including identifying and resolving problems where independent decision-making and initiative are required. Experience working under multiple deadlines and with minimal supervision and little or no direction. Strong project management skills and ability to develop, organize, initiate and take the lead on projects, as well as the ability to complete required goals in a time-sensitive manner. (Required) and
- Proven experience working in a team environment interacting effectively with and assisting team members while collaborating on team goals. (Required)
- Proven strong quantitative and analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying, defining and resolving complex problems, and collecting or interpreting data to establish facts and draw valid conclusions to provide effective resolutions. Proven experience with sound decision-making skills when dealing with multiple alternatives. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and apply new methodologies.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, accurate, focused and concise manner and presentation style. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management. Demonstrated ability to prepare correspondence and reports in a manner that is understandable to others and prepared using a prescribed format.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in learning new and sophisticated systems and processes as well as enhancing efficiency of current methods.
- Proven strong results-driven orientation. Possesses a strong quantitative background with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically strong Excel modeling skills.
- Knowledge of VBA, SQL, or similar programming languages and knowledge of database software and design and application a plus.
- Experience with Bloomberg, PACE, and/or Tableau a plus.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Or willingness to work toward obtaining the CFA Upon Hire (Preferred)
Work Setting/Position Demands:
- Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
- Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.
- Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
- Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.
- Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Performs substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.
- Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
