Global Leveraged Finance
The Global Leveraged Finance team is part of CIBC’s Global Investment Banking group and is responsible for originating and executing opportunistic and event-driven leveraged loan and high yield bond transactions on behalf of the Firm’s corporate and financial sponsor clients. The Global Leveraged Finance team works in partnership with internal stakeholders including Investment Banking Industry Coverage, Corporate Banking, Credit & Market Risk, Global Markets and Commercial Banking to drive debt financing solutions for key CIBC clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Director on the Global Leveraged Finance team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of live deals (across both High Yield Bonds and Term Loans), leading internal processes as well as driving marketing activity alongside other senior originators. You will run financial models, complete financial and credit analysis, review and structure documentation, drive materials for internal approval committees, syndication purposes and marketing efforts. You will also provide instructions and learning opportunities to more junior team members. This requires strong quantitative skills and the capacity to work on several transactions in parallel, which requires good organization skills and strong commitment.
Who You Are
5-7 years of investment banking (preferably leveraged finance) experience
Degree educated (preferably MBA or equivalent
Knowledgeable in financial markets, credit analysis, financial modeling and accounting principles
Extensive experience with leveraged finance credit documentation
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with advanced negotiation abilities
Able to take initiative and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Committed to client satisfaction and able to build relationships both internally and with clients
Willing to work extended hours in a high-pressure/high-reward environment
Proven ability to manage more junior resources
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. The Director I role has an expected salary USD$250,000 in the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
