The Business Development Manager is a dynamic leader who will drive channel optimization and new business sales growth for our Key Market segment. This role will create and deliver curated offers inclusive of group, individual, and partner owned products to employees and non-benefitted individuals without access to benefits. The Business Development Manager will work closely with external partners, internal sales reps, and cross functional working teams to identify and capture growth opportunities with existing and new clients. This role will be critical in enabling the sales and growth objectives of the fastest growing segment in Guardian’s Group Benefits business and be accountable for driving growth of all products via our Key Markets partners.
You Will:
- Cultivate strong relationships with key decision makers at prospective partner organizations
- Drive the quantification of leads and size the opportunity to ensure investment aligns with return
- Conduct in-depth needs assessments to identify short term and long term product and capability needs and tailor solutions accordingly
- Unlock new opportunities and representing the Guardian Key Markets value proposition to external partners and prospects
- Collaborate with group and individual underwriting and negotiate competitive pricing strategy
- Coordinate quoting, onboarding, and enrollment integration tactics with functional owners
- Successfully negotiate terms and conditions of contracts and oversee execution of contracts to secure new business
- Foster a cross functional team to create a motivated and collaborative work environment, and ensuring execution of capabilities and offerings
- Adhere to all relevant insurance regulations and compliance standards

You Have:
- 10+ years of expertise in Group Benefits products, offerings, and distribution models; specialty distribution models preferred
- Leadership accountability for developing and implementing overall business strategies and operational efforts including tools, technologies, training, and departmental initiatives
- Background in development and management of strategic planning processes, including the quantification and prioritization of initiatives
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to lead while adapting to changing business priorities and environments
- Strong executive presence and compelling presentation skills including presentation to internal and external senior leaders
- Ability to collaborate and drive execution across multiple key partner functions in a matrixed environment
- Consistent track record of exceptional performance, having delivered quantifiable impact on company revenue
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree with a financial focus such as business management, economics, finance etc. Master’s degree preferred.
- Producer Life/AH License
Location and Travel:
- Preferred locations include one of the following Guardian Offices: Bethlehem, PA; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Newport Beach, CA; Plano, TX; and Alpharetta, GA
- Up to 40% travel
Salary Range
$148,940.00 - $244,685.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
