This Opportunity
Our London office is seeking an Analyst to join the firm’s Investment Research group. This position involves research into economic, capital market, and property market trends in support of the firm’s investment strategies in private equity real estate. Research is an integral part of the investment process at Heitman and the focus of significant corporate resources.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Targeting market and property-level investment opportunities
- Underwriting market assumptions for specific assets as part of the acquisitions, asset management and dispositions process
- Framing investment strategies to capitalize on capital and property market opportunities
- Communication of market trends and strategic recommendations for internal and external clients through graphical, written, and verbal means
- Collect and analyze data on property markets, capital markets and economic trends
- Create and maintain group resources including slide decks, databases, etc
- Work alongside the acquisition team on prospective property acquisitions, including assessments of local market conditions and trends, competitive properties and identification of risks/opportunities
- Prepare the market section for annual business plans for properties including monthly and quarterly reporting for Asset and Portfolio management teams.
- Contribute analysis and text for white papers and articles for the Heitman Perspective series on market trends and their investment implications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, geography, urban studies or a related field
- 1-3 years’ experience in real estate research, consulting, finance, economics, geography or urban planning
- Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills
- Strong writing skills
- A highly developed ability to juggle multiple assignments simultaneously
- Fluency in Excel and PowerPoint and basic graphic design skills
- Comfort with creating, maintaining and manipulating databases
- Intellectual curiosity and integrity
- Willingness to work independently on short deadlines
