Position Overview
As a Financial Reporting Analyst, the successful candidate will be a part of a team which creates and prepares complex and detailed reports and analyses that support various facets of the Alternative Credit and Fixed Income business in addition to other initiatives as needed. This group works primarily with Marketing, Investor Relations, and executive leadership to create materials for investor presentations, updates, bespoke requests, and diligence requests, as well as work with front office personnel to enhance and develop additional reporting for the ACFI business. The team also works closely with Magnetar’s IT group on developing, implementing, and testing enhancements made to the Firm’s data infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Provide support & serve as a point of contact for ad hoc and custom requests:
- In conjunction with Marketing/IR and others, agree on an approach to fulfill the request
- Identify an approach and sources for the data necessary to address the request; aggregate and review all information, perform necessary data analysis, and create relevant reports.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Finance, Portfolio Finance, Compliance, Operations, and Risk to fulfill requests
- Document the approach and assumptions for use in disclosures and for future requests
- Gather commentary for performance attribution for monthly and quarterly investor update
- Manage the priority of ad hoc requests in cooperation with the Marketing/IR team as well as other groups involved in satisfying those requests
- Coordinate with the Reporting and Data Governance team on:
- Data gaps and system improvements
- Resource requirements for ad hoc reporting and support of the Marketing and IR functions
- Recommendation for new standard reports or changes in standard reporting to provide improved investor reporting or better support the IR and Marketing needs
- Establish processes and ownership for data to be utilized in both standard and ad hoc reporting
- Participate in working groups to assist with the effort for system improvements in both standard and ad hoc reporting
- Assist with investment and portfolio analysis and reporting; participate in valuation updates to stay abreast of fund investments
- Assist in maintaining the investment pipeline
- Participate in marketing meetings and other calls with investors as appropriate
- Participate in the preparation of Investor letters, LPAC meetings and other investor updates in coordination with IR and other areas of ACFI
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant reporting experience within private credit, direct lending, or private equity space or experience supporting these strategies, such as fund administration or audit.
- IRR, MOIC, attribution and other performance-based calculations
- Fund and/or strategy track record creation and review
- Bespoke investor requests including custom fee structures and capital allocations
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including but not limited to tables, pivot tables, index/matching, V and H lookups, Sum Ifs, etc. and PowerPoint
- Experience working with proprietary and/or off-the-shelf databases and tools including Bloomberg
- Detail oriented problem solver who can analyze and assess the minutiae while not losing sight of the big picture
- Solid communicator, whether verbal or written, who can contextualize and convey the results of analyses in a concise and accurate manner
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing and multitasking multiple initiatives with varying deadlines
- Highly motivated and driven individual with a willingness to take on initiatives and lead new ones as they arise
