In this role, you will support Group Benefits Underwriting and Operations teams on all business insights and analytics needs, including development of reporting specifications and prioritization of demand, and back-end data strategy development. Your work will be crucial to providing analytical insights into the business, enabling well-informed decision making. This is a highly visible role where you will have the opportunity to make an impact and work directly with leadership.
You will report to the Head of Finance for Underwriting & Operations, Group Benefits.
You will:
- Be responsible for three tranches of work supporting the Underwriting and Operations business areas:
- Business insights
- Reporting specification requests and prioritization
- Back-end data strategy
- Business insights:
- Be the subject matter expert and point person on all reporting and analytics tools.
- Conduct advanced business analytics, delivering impactful and actionable insights that drive decision-making.
- Develop, publish, and maintain KPI dashboards, routinely analyzing and synthesizing data for the UW and Ops leadership team with recommended actions.
- Bring innovative ways to analyze complex data and present insights, in simple and compelling ways to non-finance audiences.
- Incorporate external benchmarking.
- Reporting specification and prioritization:
- Function as the liaison between the Underwriting and Operations business and the Business Insight Development team to “intake” and prioritize reporting and insight solutions.
- Function as a project manager on all reporting requests, keeping teams on schedule and holding all parties accountable to project timelines.
- Keep teams apprised of progress and pipeline through transparent communications. Running monthly reporting prioritization meetings with business stakeholders.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders where needed to complete reporting requests.
- Where applicable, define and communicate benefit realization.
- Back-end data strategy:
- In partnership with the Enterprise Data & Analytics team, you will develop and own the back-end data strategy for Underwriting and Operations, working to an end-state of self-service.
- You will reinforce and refine existing data and processes to improve reporting optimization.
- Ensure that our data and processes effectively support our business partner’s needs.
You have:
- 8+ years of progressive Underwriting and/or Operations analytics experience within Group Insurance.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated business acumen; deep understanding of Underwriting and/or Operations value chain.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Experience building or shaping a back-end data strategy.
- Someone with strong decision-making skills who asks thought provoking questions.
- Proven ability to complete high quality work efficiently and increase autonomy over time.
- A trusted advisor who will lead conversations with leadership. Organizational savvy with ability to influence.
- Ability to synthesize large data sets into actionable insights and can communicate compelling recommendations to leaders.
- An individual with excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, who is comfortable presenting.
- Proficient within the Microsoft office suite along with data visualization experience, Tableau software a plus.
Location:
- Hybrid role - 2 days in the office, 3 days WFH - Preferred locations- Guardian home offices located in Bethlehem, PA, New York NY, Stamford CT, Holmdel, NJ or Boston, MA or in a Guardian regional office located in Atlanta, Chicago, Newport Beach, or Piano/Dallas
- Travel to Guardian offices as determined by the People Leader.
Salary Range
$101,180.00 - $166,220.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
