About
During my tenure as Chief Operating Officer at Texas Capital, I led the operational and regulatory support for over ten lines of businesses. In addition, I implemented risk assessment frameworks that resulted in zero operational losses and elevated risk awareness throughout the organization. The experiences have equipped me with the skills to manage operations, promote efficient processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, aligning perfectly with the responsibilities outlined in the job description.
In my role as COO - Head of Investment Banking Operations at Texas Capital Bank, I was the fourth hire who was tasked by the CEO to build and launch the investment bank from the ground up, driving its development from concept to full execution. Joining Texas Capital in January 2022, I took charge to add all (and more) of the following for our first trading desk (MBS) to be “live” by May 2022:
• Build trading floor, negotiate and onboard vendors
• Hire and train traders, sales, operations/middle office
• Design workflows and operational procedures
• Document written supervisory procedures
• Execute clearing agreements
• Implement client onboarding and “know your customer” program
Within five months, the transformation of Texas Capital Bank from a mortgage warehouse to the only full-service investment bank that is domiciled in Texas was initiated. As of December 2024, our MBS/TBA balances have grown from $0 to $6billion. I developed an ambitious but disciplined strategic growth map via directing day-to-day operations including hiring, management of 100+ vendors, technology implementation, owning regulatory supervision & implementing automated trade reconciliations and product controls. In 2.5 yrs, we grew top line revenue from $0 to $150M.
Prior to joining Texas Capital, I led teams comprised of 120+ sales and trading professionals distributed across multiple locations. I oversaw compliance, operations, and budgets for fixed income, equity, and underwriting trading desks in New York, London, Pittsburgh, and Boston. Delivering new products and collaborating with business partners, I seamlessly reduced costs and increased revenue. At BNY, I was responsible for all aspects of CFTC and SEC adherence specific to interest rate derivatives and security-based swaps.
My experience in managing complex risk environments and my ability to develop robust risk management programs aligns perfectly with the goals and values detailed in the job description. I am confident that my skills in risk assessment, data analysis, strategic planning, and my ability to collaborate cross-functionally to drive operational improvements will match precisely with the goals and values of Morningstar DBRS.
Some of the key strengths I bring to this role include:
• Operational Expertise: Extensive experience in managing custody and settlement operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
• Strategic Planning: Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive operational improvements and business growth.
• Leadership and Collaboration: Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and motivating cross-functional teams to achieve exceptional results.
• Risk Management: Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure the safekeeping of assets and integrity of financial transactions.
