Skills
I have fifteen-plus years of international affairs and business experience working in the US, China, India, East Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. I have worked with the private sector, U.N. agencies and governments as a leader in the non-profit sector. I worked previously for U.S. government departments Treasury, Homeland Security, and State. The movement of my career was mostly down to wanting to make the world just a little bit better by helping one person at a time from my time in China till the end of my time with USAID. It had perks as in living abroad and feeling of use to those most in need of what I could provide. As I pivoted away starting my own company while retaining a contract with USAID I wanted to expand my federal contracts due to my internal experiences with multiple departments. Unfortunately, the current administration disagreed with my aspirations due to their own agenda. Life happens. I have two master degrees, most recently an MBA from University of Vermont's Sustainable Innovation program ranked 1st globally for "make better world" business programs by Corporate Knights. I wanted that degree as I enjoy trying to make the world a better place in the form of business as governments and ngo's make up such a small percentage addressing global issues. That said, the private sector is making it's own movements with ESG, Sustainable Finance, and an enjoyment of finding companies that follow the triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit including the B corp movement. My goal in this role is to gain the necessary certifications to become a successful financial advisor. My understanding is that would be passing the Series 7, Series 66, and ideally a few others notably with ESG or an equivalent to sustainalytics owned by morningstar. I hope you find my application suitable. Thank you. Best, Nick Jones.
