Artisan Partners is seeking an Investment Tax Specialist to join our team. The position provides an exceptional opportunity to develop professionally in the investment management industry with a primary focus on the taxation of private funds, mutual funds, and international investments. As an Investment Tax Specialist, responsibilities are diverse with additional responsibilities assigned upon demonstration of proficiency and experience.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $150,000
Specific placement within the provided range will be determined by an individual’s geographic location as well as relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Associates may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon Firm and individual performance.
Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to:
- Support the Artisan private funds’ tax practice, including reviewing tax estimates, preparing tax documentation, reviewing tax returns, and assisting in the review and preparation of Artisan Partners’ private fund regulatory documentation
- Support the Artisan mutual funds tax practice, including monitoring RIC tax compliance, reviewing tax returns, preparing tax documentation, and assisting in the Artisan mutual funds’ annual audit and dividend distributions
- Respond to requests from investment and operational professionals for tax analysis of investments, vehicles, and investor tax consequences
- Serve as primary contact with third party service providers and assist in oversight of such providers
- Identify, research, and advise management regarding federal, state, and international tax issues
- Support special projects within the Investment Tax Department as well as firm-wide projects
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting with strong academic achievement; advanced degree in accounting or taxation is preferred; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Experience in taxation of hedge funds, private equity funds, mutual funds, and/or other partnerships gained in 5+ years of public accounting or relevant industry experience
- Strong technical, analytical, research and tax compliance skills
- Strong work ethic, sense of ownership of assigned responsibilities, and an ability to lead
- Proactive approach to work with a demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and work independently
- Experience in the investment management or financial services industry is preferred
